Looking for recommendation for front dashcam:

1. Budget around 300-400
2. Can hopefully last at least 2 years. Mainly parking in shaded area
3. Good clarity especially night recording. Min 1080P, preferably 60fps or better recording quality
4. Preferably can view & transfer recorded videos via apps using WiFi

for the Z40, parking mode can only be triggered using their hardwire kit?

All dashcam requires a hardwire kit in order to use parking mode. Even 70mai now requires to use a hardwire kit to work the parking mode.

Hi blurjoey, good to see you still providing great advice as the resident LYN Dashcam expert. I'm considering to change cars at the end of this year / early next year, and upgrading my current Viofo A129. Do you have a suggestion on the best replacement for this? I'm ok with 2/3ch. I'm currently considering both the A129 Pro Duo (for 4K) and A139 (for internal camera).

Are there any other dashcam that you also recommend in considering? Thanks!

Can consider the new Viofo T130 3CH as newer specs than the A139. A129 Pro is a good choice for 2CH.

Z40 use same hardwire(type-c) kit as DDPAI Mini 5.

Oh I see. Thanks!

Do you think hardwiring will void the car warranty? eg. Protonx70

I find that the file size is really big. 128GB only last for 1 week only. Daily drive about 1 hour per day.

If got use parking mode will be worse I guess. Can't even last 1 night.

Not sure on that but in case of any electrical issue with your car, they can blame it on the hardwire kit..😅
They will claim that the fuse box is not designed to support external fuse addon.

I think 1 week recording is sufficient because it is for emergency use or any other important details it records and by then you probably already copy the video to your phone unless you forgot..😄
You can standby extra sd card in case you need to copy full video using PC.

From my experience using parking mode with Mola N3, I got more than 12 hours time lapse recording and the cut off was set to High(12.4V) but once the cut of is active, the emergency recording mode won't work.
This is the reason why i'm using Dormancy mode now.

Korean dashcams are on the premium side.

The F200 Pro less than rm1.4k as it is entry level. Those above rm2k+ are the higher range.

https://www.sicurez.com.my/collections/thinkware-dash-cam

Sicurez is the distributor in Malaysia.

Another shop also recommending the F200 pro at same price.. isnt it quite a premium considering its like less than 200 USD at thinkware's site

Hi guys thinking of getting front and rear cam setup and have some questions:

1. Looking at 70mai A500S + the rear cam setup, is this good or should use capacitor based cam? I’ve been working from home even since before pandemic (freelancer) so car parked mostly in condo covered car park away from sun.
2. For parking mode hard wire to fuse box, will it continuously drain my car’s battery? Or will it only activate if it senses movement or what’s the trigger?
3. Without hard wire kit, the cam only records when engine start and will stop when engine stops, correct?

Thanks all sorry if noob question first timer

The lithium battery inside is kaput d. That's why cannot save the date and time settings.

1. Batteries if long-term didn't charge will spoil also.
2. 70mai hardwire kit power cutoff is around 11.4v if not mistaken. Anyway, 70mai is get impacted then only triggers the recording.
3. Yes correct.

Thanks for the responses. Knowing what you know now (which is a lot biggrin.gif ) would you recommend lithium battery or capacitor battery for most people? I liked the A500S because of the image quality sample I saw… looked nice at night. If there’s a capacitor dashcam with similar quality but only slightly more expensive I might go for that. In short, what do you recommend?
