1080p to 2160p is a huge difference Also the A129 Pro is on High Bitrate mode which will use more space also. There is a Maximum Bitrate mode which I will test tomorrow if tonight's recordings are done.
Normal as all dashcams will get warm/hot when in operation.
This A129 Pro I feel is hotter
Any chance u could borrow an IR thermometer to measure how hot it gets?
Will be doing more tests with the A129 Pro like front and rear cam recordings, etc.
Will wait for you to finish doing more tests.
Is it possible for us to download the actual files produced by the camera? Youtube encoding may have had a hit on image quality. I know this is a big ask because it'll be very large files and may be expensive to be hosted.
You want the raw file? I need to see if the 128GB still have the videos recorded or not. Now testing other bitrates. Might not have the high bitrate videos. I need to take it out and see.
I prefer the slightly-more discreet form factor of the A129 4K....however if this has better night-time performance, it can be useful. Please do review it.
Can those cameras with infra-red lights "see" through the haze? Yes it happens yearly...and if it keeps getting worse, we may need dashcams with special features.
Wanna ask if there are rear-view mirror dashcams which run on supercapacitors. So far all the ones I've come across have batteries in them. Recommendations would be appreciated!
Can convert it to a supercapacitor dashcam by swapping out the battery https://www.spytec.com/super-capacitor-for-...axi-series.html But spytec is in the USA...shipping will cost more. Anyone know of local/China seller of such supercapacitors with Mobius Maxi connector?
Luckily I re-read page 1 again: Capacitor dashcams eventually run out of power and lose the time/date/settings. It'd be a pain if I didn't drive one of the vehicles for 3-7 days and have to input the info all over each time that happened.
Are there any mid-priced capacitor dashcams that have some form of backup battery to retain the time/date etc info? I'm getting blur.
Longest I've tried is more than 14 days and no issues.
I can't remember if it was a Thinkware or Viofo dashcam.
OK thanks for that info. Good to know it can retain the settings etc for 14+ days.
I've stopped considering the Mobius cams for various reasons. It's a bit on the fragile side due to the tiny form factor. Cam sensor ribbon cable can pop out if jostled, heat dissipation probs, and it's a pain to obtain the supercapacitor. Their ecosystem is also not solid yet. I don't mind paying RM8.63 for the Mobius app but it doesn't support the models I was considering.
2 other models of supercapacitor cams currently under consideration: Mini 0906 Dual lens and Xiaomi DDPai Mini One.
Mini 0906 dual cam, 1080p 30fps front and rear, has GPS and capacitor, around RM400+. Haven't yet found a seller who offers it with warranty. I wonder if that's an indication of reliability problems.
I can tell you that last time got a distributor for Mini dashcam in Malaysia but now no more
Anyway, maybe you can look at 0906 from BlueSkySea? They bought the mold from MegTec (owner of Mini dashcams) and produced the 0906. They do have an official store in Lazada if not mistaken.
There are other manufacturers doing mini0906 also. So you need to be careful about which manufacturer.
Mini0906 is considered to be the best budget dual dashcam. Next is Viofo A129 Duo.
Thanks for the info! I'll look into their Lazada shop this evening...hopefully they do not use ninja van (had a very bad experience).
I just edited my reply with mini0906 Pro but don't think I saw it selling any where...
Ohh interesting! Maybe it's an incoming model and will be released in the near future. The 0906's rear camera doesn't perform so well at night (from what i've seen in youtube, the A129 Duo's cams are better at night), so this Pro version may be an improvement.
