For those who have actually done coating before:
- What company/brand was it? - was the workmanship good? - how long has it been and has the Malaysian weather challenged your coating? - Pricing?
I've got a quote from a Rhadium sales agent for RM1,300.00 (Ori price RM1800.00), My car is Metallic Granite Grey, my main concern are those black watermarks that stain your door handles and rear of the car especially when you don't dry the car's body properly after a good wash ... I know it's not that visible on dark body, but as a perfectionist I'd prefer no imperfections and catch some of that sweet glosssss
any comment and input will be appreciated.

Save the 1800 and do polish and wax every 6 to 12 months.
Coating is useless.

QUOTE(set @ Apr 9 2019, 07:34 AM) coating cannot prevent that my understanding that the coating is hydrophobic, the water wouldn't stick to the paint after coating is done and that'll highly reduce the amount of watermarks and spots that stick to the paint. am i mistaken?

After coating WILL STILL HAVE watermark. Don't get fooled by coating marketing, it is just another layer of protection on top of your paint coating. You will STILL NEED to wash frequently (weekly) to maintain good paint condition.

I know you still need to wash your car even after coating, guess we can't run from the watermarks. Thanks

I've done this many times from a reputable shop https://ceramicprotection.com.au/, affordable and have a very good result. The cost is $1495 with 5 year warranty.

Driving Myvi G3 ah bro? Nice colour. I have it too. DIY maintenance. Not really opting for coating so I use wax/sealants for the car and the water beading is amazing. Anyways, if car is left on its own without being driven after the rain, that's when the watermarks will start forming if the water beads dry off. Hope this helps. Many more feedback and sharing is done in the Car Care & Detailing Thread. This post has been edited by woodentiger86: Jan 2 2020, 05:36 PM

An update on the watermarks.
I did not go with the coating for obvious reasons but instead manage to wash my car every week and ensuring it's dry before hitting the sun; that means getting down and cleaning it with a dry cloth instead of letting the carwash personnel do it all.
So far no watermarks, car still gloss like brand new.
However, paint chip off from pebbles and small rocks on the front bumper. Those who drive on the MRR2, GOOD LORD.

QUOTE(king timidandslow @ Jan 2 2020, 08:56 PM) actually...full coat respray will lower your car resale value because its automatically assume to have been in accident before. yes I know its kind of discriminating but you can ask used car dealers about this. I believe 10 out of 10 will say the same thing Car dealers are smart to not judge a car based by their colour. Just because you were lowballed plenty of times doesn't make you an expert, It makes you an expert retard.

Lucky TS did not went for coating. Seriously it is a waste of money. Most important thing to take care of your car paint is avoid rain or tap water to dry under direct sunlight. This will leave minerals residue on the paint surface which is hard to remove later on. My current practice is after washing or rinsing off the car, I will apply a coat of liquid wax for paint protection (any brand will do but I am using Turtle Wax 3x Carnuaba Wax). Fast, easy, less hassle and a lot cheaper than ceramic coating.

Just did coating for my car, not much difference on the original body paint, but definitely there was some effects on the additional bodykit i have installed. Anyhow, it's really about how you maintain your car like weekly wash etc.

The coating is useless if you park your car under hot sun everyday. Mine gone in 2-3 months and need to re-coat again.

After you do coating, to maintain the coat you need to wash the car at least weekly. So you end up spending more to maintain the car. If you are doing that, might as well go for water based ceramic coating. Brands like Meguairs, Turtle wax, Chemical Guys, Sonax and a few brand have good quality and easy to apply of such product. Try those if you plan to wash your own car.
