Hi,

I am getting a new system on the name of "C&C 3" and "Supreme Commander".

I am thinking to get the Gigabyte P35-DS3 (RM450+) with Intel cheapest Core 2 processor (E4200 1.8GHz) + 4x 1GB Kingston value RAM DDR667.

I could like to know if I am making the right decision on components choices. Can you guys estimate on how much I can overclock the processor on such selected component? My understanding is that one do not need high speed RAM to overclock FSB because there is multiplier for memory.

Please advice and correct me if I am wrong in any sense. I need to know if I should instead replace the 4x 1GB value RAM with 2x 1GB HyperX 1066 RAM.

It's E4300 btw . First of all, the E4300 is sort of the least favourite CPU to be overclocked. Expect around 3.2ghz the max. I haven seen many good ones that will OC. With this, it's highly recommended u get a good HSF, Big Typhoon etc etc. 4x 1gb Value rams for me definitely

How high do you think it can do with the stock fan?

Anyway, which processor do you recommend?

I am actually thinking of using cheapest processor with better motherboard first... than maybe 18 months later (next Christmas) upgrade the processor and maybe graphic card lo...

If your a cheapskate like me , and aiming for 3.0ghz, the E2140 will do it well. And aso, pair it with the cheapest decent mobo. You wont be utilizing the potential of a better board. Even by then u decide to upgrade, better and matured chipsets will be available. IMO, the stock fan will be able to do 3.0ghz

By the way, how's the overclockability of P35-DQ3? Recommeded?
