We intend to create a small bedroom in our living room in an apartment / condo. When we approach the building management, they say must get DBKL approval first.
Is it true? Anyone know this is under what Act or regulation? No hacking of walls will be involved. Only add drywall & door

QUOTE(Kopi5263 @ Dec 27 2022, 07:22 PM) So need dbkl or not yar if do partition? Technically there are so many co living companies that have just flooded the market with “living room bedrooms.” Until there is a ruling on max occupancy or fire safety considerations, people will just flout the rules. Unfortunately we’re not Singapore so enforcement isn’t really practiced.

No need as long as you’re not removing any walls in a condo, and not changing the exterior of a strata property.

Only add drywall & door Act 133 (Street, Drainage & Building Act) Clause 79 stipulates local authority approval is required for any partitioning work. Uniform Building By-Law requires minimum habitable room size/width and window. It is for health and safety...the partitioning and material used may alter fire safety. Fire insurance may only pay out claim if the unit alteration has DBKL approval.
