Hi all, Got a unit of mate 20. Only 1 year 1 month using and the battery started swelling already. And the swelling got worse today and the back casing already popped open. Battery capacity is still good. The phone is still under extended warranty (2 years) but it is a SG unit (bought in Singapore). Does anyone know whether I can claim warranty for SG unit in Malaysia? If not possible, is it eligible for the RM99 battery replacement program? Thanks all in advance!

QUOTE(VeeJay @ Mar 8 2021, 10:03 PM) It depends in SG, if it was international warranty or local warranty. Maybe you should call and validate on battery replacement program https://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/battery-service/BTW, do you plug the phone often into the high speed charger, or use while charging? I see. Thank you very much. In the support app, it says country/ region = Singapore. Does it mean that it is SG only warranty? The phone uses its provided fast charger all the time. Never charge via PC, never charge via other charger. And seldom use phone when charging.

QUOTE(VeeJay @ Mar 9 2021, 12:29 AM) must be unlucky then, hardly battery would swell unless extra heat induced. How about while driving your car? Many place it at windscreen, which is direct to heat, I do normally push my aircon vent towards the phone to cool down. Im not too sure of the warranty, bro. Better get the battery changed fast, its not gonna be too expensive. It’s actually my dad’s phone. He never use phone mount before. Only place it in pocket when driving. Never place it in car under direct sun. Dropped from table height 2 times through its lifetime. The gap is around 1mm when I first notice the battery swelling up. But today it suddenly got a lot worse and force the back plate wide open (~8mm gap). For myself, my iPhone was accidentally placed in car under direct sun, few hours, for at least 2 times. And the battery still going strong and no swelling after 2 years. Will get the warranty sorted out ASAP.

An update: Finally got the time to go to their service center for battery change (+back cover change because accidentally break the back cover by sitting on it since the battery keep pushing the back cover out). Asked them, SG phone cannot claim warranty here. But they can do battery swap and back cover change (SG warranty automatically void). But no ready stock so hv to wait 3 days for stock . Paid RM99 for battery and RM92 for back cover (fingerprint sensor attached) and kawtim within 1 hour.
