Huawei start from 1/7/19 to 30/9/19 purchase with 2 years warranty.

You mentioned that your father bought from small seller shop. Maybe it is 2nd hand phone. Don't wonder here. GO back and ask the seller.

The date different too much from your bought?

Own few Huawei phones before and usually during first few days would show "forward month" not "backward month" of 1 year warranty. In example, if you purchase on 17 July 2019,  1 year warranty will end on let said 16 Sept 2020. After a week or two, it will adjusted back to 16 July 2020.

Your case, you can check now since already few days passed from your previous posted.

Mind to provide the date when you bought and the warranty date it show?

Try chat with hi care customer service regarding your matter n proof of purchase receipt

Contact huawei customer service or use hicare.
There have a chance that shop turn on the phone to play with or to let customer test.(big assumptions)

No need to ask more, this is what you should do. Make a copy of the receipt, printscreen of imei/serial no. of phone or a picture of serial no. on box and printscreen whatsapp conversation with shop if you have it, all for proof and be prepared to report to KPDNHEP tribunal & Huawei Malaysia. Up to you to wait for the 7 days, but something is wrong here. I suspect it to be an almost new 2nd hand phone. Regardless, the shop cannot turn on the phone to play with or let customer test and still call it NEW, at that point it can only be called demo set. Any freebies that come with the phone or no freebies at all???

try to look at Files app' "Recently Deleted"; i purposely created a dummy voice recording and delete, but it's not inside there nor elsewhere.

also, Mate 20 variants should have Huawei's Cloud Backup available even at basic Free tier; if it's enabled, look into restoring from it.

Note: I'm using the most-recent up-to-date versions, so it might differ from what you actually have in terms of appearance, naming, etc, but availability-wise, backup and RESTORE is already here since a long time ago,

Either straight through Huawei Cloud app, or long-winded through Settings.
