Hi guys, am currently a LG V20 user and have used Oneplus 3 before this. Would like to ask about how has the Mate 20 X been for you guys who has been using it for 6 months now? Any lags or deterioration of snappiness? Is it as snappy as the Oneplus series? What about battery life, how much Screen on Time do you get?

Thanks for the reply. Similarly i am not into games and mainly use WhatsApp, the videos and attachment sent through WhatsApp and browsing the internet. Occasionally i use Google Maps in the phone when driving to a particular destination but that is of less concern because i have the car charger that is very efficient in providing quick charging to the phone, most of the time better than the normal wall plug charger at home which is weird.

I ask this question because my LG V20 although a good phone is giving me a bit of problem even it comes to charging. When new I only need to charge it 1 or maximum 2 times a day. Now I have to charge it 4 to 5 times a day if not more. The worse thing is when I plug the USB cable to charge the phone, it is not charging, or it charges extremely slow. Sometimes when I plug the cable to the phone, after 1 hour the phone battery power goes from say 10% to 15% only instead of 100%.which is pathetic.

Apart from this issue, the power drops fairly quickly when I'm using the phone to browse the internet, such as typing this post of the phone right now. Charging the phone average 4 to 5 times a day.

When it comes a time that i need to charge the phone 10 times a day, either I replace the battery of the V20 or I get this Huawei Mate 20X. Apart from the impressive huge capacity battery, the big screen (7 inches?) and camera are the main selling points for me.

Lol ryder_78, finally decided to come in here to have a peek after my suggestion at the V20 thread? Just ditch the V20, LG is a shit company. By the way, I have beem using my Maye 20 X for a month now, and I am loving it. It is just like how I enjoyed using my Oneplus 3, only that this is much better in almost every aspect.

Better screen (colours more vibrant, brighter), larger screen, super large battery, very fluid UI (at times just a tinny winny bit slower than Oneplus, we are talking about milliseconds difference here, not like 5 seconds in the case of V20), awesome camera, good software support (compared to V20), reasonable price. Even the headphone jack quality is good, I would say 95% of the V20's quad DAC. But when comparing the audio output from speakers, the Mate 20 X completely thrash it. It is the loudest phone I have ever seen, just like having a dedicated portable speaker. It can even be too loud at times for my liking, at max volume.

The only thing V20 have that's better than the Huawei Mate 20 X are these:
1. Dedicated SD Card slot, not hybrid
2. Removable battery
3. Dual display (the Mate 20 X does not have a LED notification light and the floating display isn't really informative imo)

That's it. In every other aspect, it lags very far behind. The Mate 20 X is also a much better looking phone. No point being stubborn and singing praises of V20 anymore. LG is crap, period.

Interesting. I am contemplating a Mate 20 X. Either this or a Galaxy A70 or a Mate 20 Pro. Or the Honor 20 Pro. These days there are so many models. Hard to decide.
*
Well, if what I typed above is not enough to convince you, I just checked yesterday that at 50% battery, I have used 7h SoT, so it will get me 14h SoT in real life usage. This is using WiFi at home for 90% of the time.

Mind you, my phone is already fully loaded with all of the apps that I use, and I have been using it for a month already. It has a very aggressive background app management which kills off a lot of background processes. For example, my FB lite notifications don't pop up as often when compared to my V20 or Oneplus 3. This is a non issue for me.

When on the move and using LTE, I get around 11h of browsing SoT and around 9-10h of Google Maps nagivation SoT for a full charge. This is me not skimping on screen brightness at all. Very solid if you ask me. Because of this, I also stopped using my charger in the office and just charge it on my drive to office. 30 mins charge gets me around 40%-45% which can last a day on moderate use.

Yea. I like the standard sd too hybrid or not.
And the notification light. I can't brain why a lot phone not included whatever from high end to low end.
*
Yeah man. Not having a notification light is one of the weirdest omission that very few talk about. I really miss my multi coloured LED notification on my OnePlus3

How's the size? Is it too large to pocket?
*
Never really had any problems. I used to own a Galaxy Note 2 with an Otterbox case. The new Huawei Mate 20 X with an external TPU casing is about the same width, slightly thinner (depth) than the Note 2, but definitely longer (length) when comparing both phones with casing. I seldom wear jeans, so it is not an issue. In fact, with jeans, I had problems with all phones, even my much smaller Oneplus 3 or iPhone6s.

Check out the dimensions comparison.

Edit: I should say that I have relatively large hands when compared to other guys. Not super big, but larger than average.

After update to 9.1, battery performance drop alot.

Current: 9.1
[attachmentid=10299761]
Sot baru 6 h+ already left 35only

Before: 9.0
[attachmentid=10299765]
Sot 10 h+ still have 25%

Take note also, i was at airplane mode in 9.1.,😩... Mate 20X here.

Interesting. Did not experience this when I update to 9.1. However, I did hard reset my phone after the update, due to another reason, so not sure if that helped.

Anyone using Mate 20 X who ended up feeling like it was too big and then changed to a smaller phone? Can you describe your experience?
*
You kidding? I still have my LG V20 and Oneplus 3 which I use on and off. Now I feel they are just too small. Buying the Mate 20 X is probably the best decision I have made for a phone to replace the lousy V20. But then again, my hands are slightly larger than average. Never had problems with bringing the phone around though.

HI,

wanna ask opinion.

between view 20 (rm1300), and Mate 20 (Rm16xx),

is the rm3xx worth it?
*
For that extra money, you get:
1. Wide angle camera (very useful for most people)
2. Telephoto camera (less useful. more useful for photographers)
3. Likely 1 extra year of updates and 1 extra Android version
4. Expandable storage, though the NM card ain't cheap
5 .Brighter screen (778 vs 449 nits)
6. Marginally louder speakers

Your choice on what you want.

Hey sifus, just wanted to check, is there any way we can take tilt-shift type photos using the stock camera? Kinda like seeing things in miniature at times.

Something similar to the below:
user posted image

Or do we need to download a separate app to do so?

Appreciate the advice.

Thanks.
*
This is some high level shitz if you want to do it like the real way. As of today's tech, there is no way. But if all you want is to add blur (photography term is vignette), then there are plenty of apps like Snapseed.

P/s: the photo you shared is actually using fake tilt shift.

Ah I see. Thanks for the clarification.

Thought the stock camera had a vignette feature similar to the bokeh for portraits.

Appreciate the suggestion on the apps! Will take a look into them. smile.gif
*
May have, but Snapseed has much better features. Sorry, to correct myself, if you want Blur and Darken (Vignette). Blur is bokeh, loosely speaking. Vignette is creating dark areas. All of this is present in Snapseed.

Tilt shift is not possible without complicated editing or proper tools.

Hi, sorry for digging such an old post, just decided to read the entire thread and only now see.

For this point, which Samsung phone did you compare with? Cause I pitched my Mate 20 X against Note 9, honestly I am hard pressed to tell the difference.

*
Then for the latest phones, Mate 20 vs Note 9 or S9, got difference? I understand for older Huawei phones.

Am asking cause I am unable to feel the difference.

Hello..i'm currently buy 2nd mate 20x..what i realize is everytime i change from no network area to 4g network area, my fon dont change automatically to 4g..i need to restart or airplane mode first for the line to change to 4g..anybody face this issue before.. i'm using celcom line..no network when i'm at my house ground floor..only 4g when i go upstairs..
*
No issue here. When I drive out of KL past areas without 4G, the phone automatically switches its connection. Perhaps try to hard reset?

Any good quality screen protector/ tempered glass to recommend for Mate20Pro?
*
I like X-One's screen protector. No point getting tempered glass as it offers less protection against drops and sharp impact. Only protects the screen against scratches. I always go for film for screen protector.

My first choice would have been Rhinoshield but they don't have for Mate 20 x, so X-One would have to suffice.

NM card only huawei using now. You can't find any fake card.
Unless people make same shape without real storage.

I texted a few Shopee sellers and they mentioned that their cards are OEM. I think there are already 3rd party manufacturers.

Mate 20 Pro is 1cm taller, has 1440p and 0.3' larger screen, water resistance, infra red port, slightly faster fast charging and stereo speaker. It also has a curved screen, not something I prefer but you pick your poison.

P30 is 1cm shorter, lighter by 30g, splash resistance, 3.5mm jack and flat screen.

Well, choose what matters more to you from the above list.

For me, it would be a hard choice as well, since my priorities are large screen, 3.5mm jack, longer endurance (larger battery), stereo speaker and flat screen. So Mate 20 X is the way to go.

To any Mate 20 series users, this question is probably one of the most asked question, what is the best screen protector for my Mate 20x?

I do game on my mate 20x and the current tempered glass protector is hard to use during gaming, it gets sticky very fast and hard to move my fingers as fast as i should.

1. I want a screen protector especially for gaming like pubg, cod, mlbb etc. I dont mind the material type either tempered glass or PET material like the X-one extreme.

2. Is a matte screen protector better for me for gaming versus a normal one?

3. The one which comes up a lot online is the X-one and Nillkin brand. I need your help to recommend to me other brands if its better and where to buy them and to prevent buying a fake one.
*
By right tempered glass is smoother than gel. I am using X-One and has no issues whatsoever with stickiness. I do have a problem with oilyness after using my phone for a day, so I wipe it before I sleep. I don't play games though.
