Hi, i'm currently in a dilemma which monitor to choose for my upgrade. Currently using using Dell S2740L IPS glossy monitor for gaming n movies. Games i play currently is anthem, dmc5 and some nox emulator games. Wanted to try out 144Hz monitor with budget 1.5k, GPU is Rtx2070.

Questions:
- is 1440p important for 27"
- is freesync important for 144hz
- will the transition from ips to TN/VA a huge quality drop in terms if pic quality?
- will it be better to save more budget for a higher quality ones?

any good youtube channel about monitors ?

my 2 cent:

1080p on 27" is too stretched out. 1440p is just nice for 27" in terms of pixel per inch

adaptive sync helps remove tearing when your refresh rate fluctuate, and there are more room for refresh rate fluctuation. Imagine 70hz to 144hz is almost 100% diff, which can be very common when transition from indoor to outdoor scenario (gaming).

quality drop only in terms of colour reproduction, if IPS doesn't go for calibration, colour can look like shit as well, unless the monitor has been calibrated in factory.

Monitor can last very long, unless you willing to trade in from time to time, i will just buy a good one and forget about upgrading.

I usually refer to following websites, i seldom check youtube for review

So found 1 AOC suited to my liking on paper.

Pricelist of Jayacom

AOC
AG322QCX 31.5" 1440p 144Hz VA Freesync 4ms RM1820

is this monitor good? A bit above my budget but i can wait for another month. Any equivalent monitors in malaysia market?

If you do not want curves - then you need to look at LG's new 32GK650F for RM2399 icon_idea.gif

Also, if you want something smaller, try asking ASUSmy whether they have the new VG279Q - I think they are trying to bring this in on Q1 of 2019 icon_idea.gif

You can consider this too:

Acer ED323QURA - 32 inch 1440p 144Hz VA panel, and I think it should share a similar panel than the AOC you linked icon_idea.gif

Oh, forgot to update this thread, got myself an Acer ED323QURA for rm1111 lazada deals.

Switching to this from a Dell ips monitor, the color is a bit bad but still acceptable. Calibrated to my liking since i'm just planning to game on this monitor.

No dead pixels, but with a little bit backlight bleeding. Haven got used to the curve yet but that is just the matter of time.

Unless you are doing color critical work such as photo editing - for me a VA panel is better than IPS due to deeper blacks and better color contrast. They are also not affected by IPS glow too icon_idea.gif

Yeah, just for gaming so i opted for VA panels that is much cheaper. Not a competative gamer too, so TN panel is a no.
