Btw, what is firmware 1.82 for? It suppose to support h.264 high profile but with MP4 extension only.

Xvid4psp doesn't seems to have the option to sellect between main profile and high profile.

And so far no internet download can be play directly on the PS3. WTH is Sony thinking?

Is sony ever going to bring sequential play for video to the PS3 in the next firmware? I have many video and I just hate to go back to the XMb to play each video. Damn sucky!!

No...h.264 can have many extensions like mp4, mov, wma etc and so far only mp4 works only, but so few video in mp4 format with h264.

Its not about royalties. PS3 do support wma but you need to activated over the net. why not divx or mov etc?

Its just sony style that they want to monopoly everything...from betamax to memorystick to UMD to bluray blah blah...

June NPD Numbers: Wii Remains Dominant
PS3 growing pains continue pre-price cut.

UPDATE: NPD Group has issued a statement there was an error in the original numbers -- PSP actually sold 290,100, not 230,000, as was originally listed.

ORIGINAL STORY: It's that time again, folks, as the NPD Group has released the official numbers for June 2007. And, for once, there's good news all around, despite the slow summer schedule -- yes, even for PlayStation 3. Nevertheless, the story remains the same: Wii continues leading the pack, Xbox 360 still doubles Sony's sales and PS3's lack of software continues to play a large problem.

Oh, and Nintendo DS sold a truckload. Surprise? Here's the breakdown, versus the last few months, with the underlined numbers being the most recent, June 2007:

PlayStation 3: 130,000 vs. 82,000 vs. 81,600 vs. 98,500
Xbox 360: 199,000 vs. 174,000 vs. 155,000 vs. 198,400

Software sales remained as expected, Nintendo obviously dominating many of the top spots thanks to continually strong hardware sales for both Wii and Nintendo DS. 2K Games' The Darkness barely managed to crack the top 10, coming in at the bottom spot, beat out by Capcom's Wii-modified version of Resident Evil 4. Elsewhere, Forza Motorsport 2 continues to sell well, as does the Guitar Hero series.

Sony wants to make all PS3 owners cry

Sony's semi Official blog ThreeSpeech has revealed that Sony has a mission to make gamers cry. Euro boss David Reeves commented that there around a dozen titles which Sony are developing which will be released by the end of 2008 and to quote are 'absolutely spectacular.' Although he revealed that one of the main objectives is indeed to make gamers cry through great emotional depth and complexity that will all bring us to tears. Sony better bundle in a free box of tissues in that case .

That is why we need bluray man. Demo only also cannot fit into DVD9!!!

But I seriously doubt it would be 13GB as it will kill sony's server with this kind of bandwidth. I would think it is about 1.3GB.

Go figure.

First MGS is solid. But after MGS2 and 3...i think its too boring liaw. Gameplay is so slow ... prefer much more action oriented game like GOW. And with so little time , I just don't see myself playing back those old games.

I never recall paying any $$$ to play .mov files. Play back of .mov files is always free...only encoding them requires to buy them. Go figure.

PS3 already supports H.264 codec but why not made it universal by supporting it in all extension but only MP4?

Sony always overcharging malaysian like we are stupid. The price of sony products in malaysia are much more expensive then oversea and can be different by RM1000 sometimes. WTF.

Rumor: Sony to buy Rockstar

Rumor has it that various sources have relayed that Sony is looking to take Rockstar 'under their wings', this rumor is supported slightly by the new exclusive Rockstar franchise for PS3 as well as the expected exclusivity of L.A. Noire.

If this is true , then sony might want to move fast and stop releasing GTA on the 360.

But there are some bad news too....


Blazing Angels 2 Slips behind on PS3, delayed release confirmed

Ubisoft has confirmed that Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII is to be delayed on the PS3. The game will be released on August 30th on PC and Xbox 360 but for the PS3, the title will hit on October 4th, no reason for the delay was given. Naruto: Rise of a Ninja scored a release date of October 18th exclusively on Xbox 360, while Brothers in Arms: Double Time is set for an October 18th release on the Wii.


Midway's Stranglehold delayed even further on the PS3

Midway's Stranglehold has taken a further hit on the PS3, Midway today announced that the earlier announced release date of September 17th for the PS3 version of Stranglehold was no longer valid. The title has been delayed for an 'unknown time' with Midway remarking it will be out this year but not during September for the PS3. The Xbox 360 and PC versions are still on track for an August 27th release date.

Seems like developers are still having a hard time coding for the PS3. expect more delays coming....

1UP has published both its reviews of Madden NFL 08 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. They awarded the PS3 a score of 8.5 overall, which is 0.5 less than what the Xbox 360 version received. They claim that due to Madden only being able to run at 30fps on the PS3, the gameplay isn't as smooth as the Xbox 360 version and even stutters sometimes.

Hmmmm...when is the more stable 360 coming out? I wanna lay my dirty hands on it once its out.

I have no idea...but maybe games like killzone has less people on screen at the same time. Football games have 30 to players in field at one time. In the end result that counts and PS3 is the sore loser here.

For my PS3, I will buy only the exclusive games listed below IF they turn out good :

WOW...wait a minute. I didn't know XBOX360 have so many games Its just strange for me who so firmly support the Ps2 in the last generation console war to find myself in the other camp now. I guess Rm5.00 per game as compare to RM200 for a game does make a whole lot of difference.

Please don't be mad at me for not keeping my loyalty to Sony. I'm just a gamer who wants to play games and that is all.

Eh ... I don't think so. Most cross platform games will look the same... so far the 360 version turns out better. Just look at the just release Madden08.
Even if there is any difference it will be hardly noticeable and I won't mind saving Rm200 for that little differences

Offcourse I would want the so call "superior version" but almost all games available on both PS3 & 360 are identical....and if there is any difference its not really significant . But for a price of Rm5 and Rm200+, now that is a significant difference

Now I don't want to tell anyone here where they should spend their $$$, but one thing for sure is I'm putting my $$$ errr you why where Afterall its only a game!
