i should say this is every company strategy.
while selling flagship at highest price, commonly non PRO version will reduce a little compare to PRO.
so that:
1) they able to push their flagship sales to higher level since price is not much diff.
2) if consumer bought the lower spec, they have higher profit.

at the end, company will keep on sucking your blood.

Wish it could be lower , maybe at 3399 at the cheapest. bigger battery now and believed to have better SOT and definitely better camera module than mate 20 pro  , i cant see the p30pro launching cheap. bigger screen display too.

expected EURO 1000.

previously all very thin profit margin to capture market share

i think is their strategy.
you see, while flagship is getting more expensive nowadays, lower-mid range phone had their advantage.
they able to pull up the price everytime they introduce a new phone.
this is bad for us.

They already separate redmi to focus on low-mid range phone
While xiaomi number series and mix series to challenge the high pricing phone..

i see.
but in global mindset, xiaomi is still under mid range phone.
imagine if one day xiaomi come with RM4k price range with what market spec having now, i doubt they able to sell well compare to samseng or any other flagship.
of course, iPhone and HTC is out of the question.

"Huawei recently published some image samples as part of a teaser campaign for the upcoming P30 Pro’s camera with periscope zoom lens — but it turns out they were shot on a DSLR, as spotted by GSMArena. This isn’t the first time that Huawei has faked its phone camera results — the last time it happened was in August 2018 for a Huawei Nova 3 commercial"

I think u not own any Huawei phone before right? You can directly convert since Europe phone tax very high as compare to Malaysia tax on phone only 5%.
