Hi everyone, I hope you have a good ahead.
I have been taking Accutane for 2 months from now, doctor advised me to have 6 months treatment before deciding on the next step. (1 capsule every 2 days)
I am aware that the most common side effect of having it that include dryness and redness. However, do you all experience having more breakouts after having Accutane? It relates to me !!! I have a lot of big pimples popping out after having Accutane for nearly two months. May I know if this is normal?
I am currently not at my state and I am kinda busy with my work. I can only visit my doctor again in 1 month time. I am in two minds if I should continue having the Accutane since it causes me more pimples (at the beginning*),
For you information, I got my medication from Dr Lim (Lim Skin Specialist Clinic) at Penang.

A quick Google search using the keywords 'isotretinoin exacerbating acne' gets me to these: Acute Acne Flare following Isotretinoin Administration The use of isotretinoin in acne
Basically, the question is, is the breakout more of a perceived increase in acne of the SAME character BEFORE you took isotretinoin, or a (in your view) WORSE than the usual look of the individual acne lesions you had before (with or without increase of perceived number), and if there are any other side effects (fever/aches/pain). You might want to inform your dermatologist ASAP over the phone as it does sound like a post-isotretinoin acne flare. Whether it is a mild flare or much more serious is up to your dermatologist, who would need your detailed history of your acne since the isotretinoin trial.

Yeah it happens. I'm on my second course now and I have pimples all over my face now since taking it 2 months ago. Based on my last experience it will only get clear after month 4+. Just hang in there. It will be worth it, trust me.

It says breakout will last for a while when you first take accutane. But how we define โa whileโ is a questions. It has been 2 months since I take accutane ((( sad life. Pimples r big, make me feel so awkward when meeting ppl

So this time I'm gonna take accutane until I achieve enough accumulative dosage (10k+ mg). I'm only taking 10mg pill per day. If it's only a few pimples you can calm them down with acne patches.

There's only 1 thing that directly causes acne i.e. bacteria. So learn to manage the bacteria on your skin & you'll heal in time.

Can try dalacin-T or similar lotion.
it oxidises and kills bacteria under the skin.

Get lesser of big acnes but still there. Previously i have very minimal acne. i guess its relating to sudden change of hormones. Did u use the green soap, moisturiser and the toner that he gives you? He conceals the brand if not can buy from outside haha.

Well I had previously went for 6 months 20mg accutane treatment twice, my acne type is mostly closed comedones with moderate breakouts. Face is really oily, it will shine after 3-4 hours of facial wash.
My 1st experience, it takes about 3 months for my acne to clear and my face become really dry. Like no oil production at all. Suffering from severe dry lips until it bleeds a little sometimes. No breakouts. On 6th months, acne cleared, last for several years until a bad breakouts happen.
My 2nd experience, this was taken when I'm 5-6 years older than my 1st course of roaccutane, no breakouts. But my face is still oily after 2 months, just less oily. On 6th months, acne cleared and lasts for several years. no bad breakouts, except deep cystic acne on my nose that will go for 1 week and the scar take more than a month to clear.
To sum out, I have never had any bad breakout during the course of roaccutane/isotretinoin but i will surely get a bad breakout after a year plus stopping the treatment.
Now I'm at my 30's, just recently having moderate breakout and severe closed comedones, face is really oily considering to take roaccutane again.
