Out of the loop recently so can someone enlighten me on what does this do? I cannae believe that the DS has enough memory for web serving purposes so how does it work? Can connect only to limited/certain websites only? Worth RM 150 ish?

The browser comes in a pack of two:

One Browser SD cartridge
and ONE memory pak to slot in the GBA slot.

From what I heard, it's kinda slow.

i used before..
i would say its an alternative to web browsing but you won't use it unless u have to use it la..
i dun experience slowness... & i feel the touch screen serves well at browsing.. much better than using wii or psp to browse...
screen sharp and clear.. words are easily readable even if you zoom out..
and hand writing recognition is very well implemented...

Problem is, the lack of compatible wireless spots in M'sia.

should be better than browsing in pda or smartphone, the use of dual screens is very effective

There used to be, but I can confirm one.

You can use any protected WiFi Hotspot with the DS Browser. As long as you are able to reach the hotspot's Sign in page and log in page you win

That's what PM showed it to me first hand last time around.

The problem is the NDS uses the old 802.1.1 wireless-B protocol unlike most newer devices that uses the 802.1.1 wireless-G protocol which have become a standard now including devices like the PSP so wouldn't be surprise if there is incompatibility here and there. I would advise against shelling out more than $100 for this device it just doesn't justify its usefulness. The good thing about it is that its much faster than browsing over the PSP due to its extra 32mb RAM pack it has and the cons, no flash, java or streaming support and you can't use it to watch video from the net which is a HUGE minus considering having to pay for a web browser that doesn't really have a full features of a web browser and yes its much slower than browsing from a PC or laptop. Its handy if you don't have any other handheld devices to surf the web but still again it might not be so handy at it seems.

It would be awesome if they could use the RAM ext for games like the old Sega Saturn!

Oh please....... asking so much out of DS's 2 little ARM proccessors. It's a miracle that Opera managed to squeeze the desktop version of its browser (Japanese version - ver.8.5 ). Flash? Video Streaming? Java? These things are not meant for mobile browser anyway. Can you imagine watching YouTube video on your DS screen? And video pages have large files (FLV or SWF alike) that can make you see the dreaded low memory screen.

Most wireless router supports B and G wireless so it's not even an issue. But the DS is known for its (very) short reception range. I can use the browser on most Starbucks (except the ones that uses Airzed which requires you to get the codes from SB staff).

Speed......yes it's slow if you try to open pages with heavy customization. But it managed to finish loading Serebii.net in 4-5 seconds, including images.

The lack of AJAX support means that or those Web 2.0 stuff won't work on the DS browser. For example no Gmail Talk (you'll view it in basic HTML version, but it's not bad and very fast to boot), Google reader, changing settings in Blogger, etc.

It's you surfing habbit that will decide whether you need the DS browser or otherwise. It's very handy if you just want to check emails, visiting blogs, or even filling up the Kopitiam with your spam.

my ds cant connect to my linksys router even though i disable teh security

I had some luck playing online through my neighbours router though..

802.11g/b type router. If router doesn't support that, no wifi gaming for you.

i encountered that DS Browser can display Chinese character in google search result but when i click in to chinese website such as chinese.cari.com.my, the chinese character doesnt show properly.

i tried to change the encoding, still the same problem.

i ordered 3 of the ds browser frm play-asia yesterday.

fedex reports that it will be delivered to me today before 6pm
