Better avoid Digital lock if possible, really easy to hack. no skill required
*
Digital or conventional locks are using similar lock mechanism.
Digital lock is merely having a motor to automate lock and unlock operations.
Hence, the security level is comparable to conventional lock.

Guys, dont mean to hijack the thread but does anyone have any good (or bad) experience with this Samsung "push/pull" system?

I'm leaning towards using tag instead of fingerprint/code.

For Samsung push/pull lock, it's safer to get it from local supplier but the price is significantly higher.
There are many cheaper "imported set" but the risk is the pull/push direction may be incompatible with Malaysian's door. Please make sure you check this.
And there are also higher risk of faulty mainboard in older model... not sure the new one.

Yes, you're right. using similar lock mechanism. But Digital lock is using digital way to detect & scan for authorization. Hence it doesn't even required thief to touch on the lock mechanism to by pass. They only need to use equipment to fake / confused the digital receiver to open the lock.

Did you even watch the Youtube video? Most of the digital lock can be opened with the device under minutes. laugh.gif

Just sharing to anyone who plan to buy Digital lock that the technology is still immature yet, its still pretty much vulnerable compared to traditional lock.

Thanks for the tip, the unit should come with some kind of warranty.... so likely i will get it locally. Unless we are talking about 50% price difference...

I hope the video is in English.
From what I understood, they use some sorts of EMP device to disrupt digital lock circuit.
It's up to whether the lock will default to "unlock" state after being disrupted to "reboot" or "in faulty state".
The success rate is still unknown for every digital lock.

I may consider to buy a unit for testing later. :-)
Thank you for sharing.

Please google around. It may still be possible with more than 50% off for imported unit of some models.
Although mine is not Samsung, but I got my gateman at 30% price of what Yale Malaysia is charging. similar front but different back module.

Actually its a toss up for me between Samsung and Yale. Ofcourse Yale is more famous for their locks (I even have a yale safe)...

But the Push/Pull looks to be... user friendly to me...

No idea how the two brands compare, would you have any tips/thoughts on them?

Yale digital locks in Malaysia are re-branded from Gateman Korean.
Don't be surprise if the Yale Malaysia and Yale USA digital locks are incompatible.
Essentially, we are comparing two Korean brands here, Samsung vs Gateman (Yale Malaysia).
Of course, Yale version has some customized versions for Malaysia market like cylindrical and grille types but the core is still Korean.

I don't have a Samsung digital lock... no comment about its robustness.
I'm using a Gateman Z10-IH for some years and it has never given any single problem... not even once. Of course, your mileage may differ.

Hi, is it possible for you to share the photo of your grille that using the Gateman Z10-IH?
A seller told me that if want to install the Z10, hand must not able to go thru the grille, else hand can just go to the back and press a button to unlock it.
And do you mind to pm your seller or installer? Thanks

The seller is correct, Z10-IH is not designed for grille.
There are two ways to go around it.

1. Install a enclosure box to protect your lock.
- Many Singapore houses use this way. Please check hardwarezone forum to know more.
- Cons: Additional cost for the box and additional remote control is needed to unlock from inside.

2. Use a security mesh grille (mine)
- Cons:
- There must be a bar which has enough height and thickness for lock installation.
- costly

I'm on second option because my original grille was old and rusty.
I changed the grille with digital lock together.

You may still buy a Yale "gate" version.
This is specially designed for Asian grille.

Cost comparison:
Option #1 < Yale gate version <= Option #2.

I paid about RM500 for digital lock and RM1700 for security mesh grille (3' x 7').

When I'm home, wooden door is always open.
Grill is always there to give me a sense of security while acting fresh air inlet.

As I said, my grille has digital lock too.
Hence, convenience level is even better.

I'm using Gateman Z10-IH for my grille which is merely quarter price of similar yale lock.

Hi Snoy, how did you manage to install smart lock in your grille? I called the Samsung authorised dealer and enquired
whether the locksmith can insatll samsung smart lock in aluminium door with same thickness as wooden door. He said no way.

You should not ask Samsung.
Please check with your aluminium door vendor.
I had seen a setup from mydelux aluminium security door by using Kaadas digital lock.

Anyway, as I said earlier, my security mesh grille is installed with gateman z10-ih.
It is not the typical grille that we normally see in malaysia houses.
Please google for panther protect security mesh.

Try This cheaper option from Philips. Philips is a reputable brand for lock too

Are you the seller?
This is the 3years+ old thread.

Such Philips model is still a rebranded Kaadas.
I'm using one higher end Philips model which is good.
Even if we can get the unit with few hundreds cheaper price from China but I still opt for local unit for the installation service and warranty.

hi bro im interesred in this model as well.

But since this model is rebranded Kaadas, i shall explore more option from Kaadas. Any idea how does the after sales services for Kaadas Malaysia? My neighbour just installed Philips, their service quite fast for installation..yet to observe how well they response when comes to problem.
