The GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) somehow just can't go away ....

Am telling myself, this camera will be the last .... yet, the lust is still there ...

Agree with you ... GR II 2K+, GR III 4K .... older one got flash some more

How can you even compare the two?

If you want to compare, compare it with other compacts of the same class: Fujifilm X70, Fuji XF10, Sony RX100, Canon G1X Mark III. Among all, the GR III is the most pocketable.

Never mind lo ...

Got xtra battery, leather case and a blue ring.

I would never want to fix that blue ring, defeats the purpose of being low-key.

A silver bullet you have bitten ... worth it all when you fondle it later smile.gif

Ask to be invited for their launch. scheduled end of April.

Now saving money for the wide conversion lens, because I like to travel and taking a lot of landscape. Hopefully not too expensive.

The lens is 18.3mm @ F2.8. For 35mm equivalent is 28mm. Is already good enough for landscape.
If using the 0.75 wide conversion lens (cost around 1.2k with adapter) should be able to achieve 21mm (35mm equivalent).

I actually plan to try it with astrophotography when I get the wide conversion lens.

I far as I know, the manual focus is adjusted with the control dial which is a rather slow. I don't think manual focus is the strong point of this camera. RX100 is already a very good camera, I believe you will appreciate more on night shoot if switch to GR III.

Agree.

GRiii capability in low light is really low.

So far, i like its sharpness (in good light) and its pocketability.

BTW after one day with the GR3, I think 2 batteries might not be enough if traveling and taking a lot of photos. So I decide to buy extra battery and external charger from taobao which able to charge 2 batteries at the same time.

Anyone heard anything on the availability of the GW-4 wide angle lens yet?

I think GR3 low light auto focus is rather slow like most pentax and ricoh camera, but the low light photo quality is on par or with most DSLR due to the shake reduction, big sensor and better performance at high iso.

Feel same like you. Two batteries not enough.

Didn't see those Larry batteries earlier.

Ordered Wasabi Li-908 (apparently similar to DB110) from Cameralah. Yet to arrive.

Larry is DB110 which shd be the exact, and better copy.

Now I only realized that Olympus battery can use with GR3.
Li-90B or the Larry battery is 1270 mAh which is 5% less in capacity than the Ricoh DB-110 which is 1350 mAh. But Olympus Li-92B is same as DB-110.
Not sure if I should get the Olympus for Larry which the price is double.

BTW I just check my serial number, unfortunately it is one of the wobbly control dial camera.

1) charged the wasabi Li90B (3.7V 1300mAh) and used in GR3 ... seems ok ... will use them only when desperate ... more interested in the charger.

2) mine also in the wobbly list ... but am quite ok with it ... guess no dust will enter.

3) put a cheapo 3" screen protector ...

4) foraging for some kind of pouch ... the one supplied is bit stiff and partly exposed ... went Daiso but found nothing ... anyone has a good pouch / case?

I think GR3 low light auto focus is rather slow like most pentax and ricoh camera, but the low light photo quality is on par or with most DSLR due to the shake reduction, big sensor and better performance at high iso.

Still love my GR1. Best camera to just keep in pocket and snap whatever takes fancy

im so dissapointed to this generation of ricoh gr.

really bad build quality and very easy overheat.

sad.gif

my gr1 still kicking asses around with its superb built quality and paired with flashair memory card.

but no doubt the image quality improved a lot in this generation.

I think the firmware is still not matured.

No way hybrid AF even slower than GR1's contrast detection AF.

My biggest beef with the GRIII is removal of buttons to make it narrower. Really don't understand why thats the good idea. I love the GR cos I can hold it not pinch it like most compacts.

Why???

yea, overheating issues should be able to solved with firmware, hopefully.

but quality wise, once you hold it then you know the differences already.

buttons issue is settled because malaysia too start to ask customers to go replacing the buttons.

this is their first time manufactured in vietnam. sad.gif

looks nice for portrait or object photography, but just not convincing enough to pay another RM4k for it.
Good to know the GRIII wil have another major firmware update to match GRIII X.
Bad to know that the new tele conversion lens only suit GRIII X.
If can get 2nd hand at half of the price, then maybe I will buy 1.
