Is this thread still alive? T^T Please reply if any of you are reading.

I plan to take on a degree in TESL there. What I would like to know is the lecturer's and course quality. Is it up to par? And, from the bottom of my soul, I sincerely do not mean to offend in any way.

And how is the campus lifestyle?

Just went to UMS Stadium for Annual Sports Event and I should say it has a great and well-maintained landscaping where you can do jogging every morning. About campus lifestyle and facilities, not sure bout that.  biggrin.gif

Hohoho, I have zero doubts on their landscaping and buildings. They're definitely one of the most beautiful and well maintained university in Malaysia. biggrin.gif Thanks though, and I hope you enjoyed your sports day.

Well, not as enjoying as the Likas Stadium as food stalls are not allowed around the stadium and it was terribly hot in the stadium during the morning as the sun shines directly to the astaka. One of my ex-teacher who's a graduate of Master Biotech in UMS said it was pretty nice but sometimes lack of lab facilities where they perform their bio experiments.

Ah, true. *nod* Geez, high-school life can be so nostalgic. XD Not that I miss much of it. (Oopps.) Hehe.

Well, they have probably improved in those few years lapse. Of course, I'm not planning on continuing a medical/science researching related course so I don't think that'll be relevant to me. biggrin.gif Oh well. Everywhere has its flaw I guess.

Hmm... I was in UMS for about 1 month after accepting the UPU offer of BSc.Plant Technology. (which I didn't even choose in UPU list). I remembered that my first choice was BSc.Microbiology in UKM and TESL in UMS (I didnt get it, even after getting a band 5 in MUET, a roommate of mine during the orientation week got the course and guess what? he got a band 3).

Studied in SST and got fed-up with plants.

After a while, I decided that this course was garbage and then decided that I should shape my future the way I want it. I submitted a formal withdrawal letter to the UMS admin office and went to do BSc.Biomedicine in Shah Alam..

Now, I'm doing medicine in India~ ahhh~  laugh.gif

Lesson to be learned:

"You determine your own future, If you dont like the course given (by those idiots in UPU department), then get out and find the course that you like." - Cybersetan

Definitely a worthy lesson to be learned. XD I think I should just eat my cookie now. T^T

And good for you for doing what you want! I believe most of us should be a bit more daring in pursuing what we know is of our worth. And not just follow what other people throw at us. Yes, I will overcome the evil UPU system. nod.gif nod.gif nod.gif

Mind to share the reasons?

I'm a Sabahan of course and going to where I've been all my life isn't exactly what I look forward to. Now let's put that aside shall we? Since it won't matter to you and it is a personal reason.

In general, UMS has one of the best environments and facilities offered from all the local universities available. By right, I wouldn't have any problem wanting to enter the university. Then again, I'm aiming to take English. Like it or not, our English standard of education isn't exactly admirable so to say.

As i mentioned earlier, i applied to UM and continue using the ptptn loan after paying back the initial 1 yr loan. Do u think its worth it to payback less than 10k but can get a good degree for your future? No point to continue with a lausy degree. There are many courses at SST which are useless...so beware.
*
You see dear, he received a course that he did not want, therefor it's only natural that he opted to go for another university for a course that he wants/ has confident in doing. Having a degree in your hand by the end of the day does not guarantee you a job.

I'm sure you wouldn't want to waste a few years doing something you don't like. sweat.gif Why are you hesitant on going UMS by the way? What's your story?
