I just want to ask about biologi pemuliharaan in detail. What are the prospects of this study? And what are the chances of changing course in UMS? I've read all the previous post. However, I would appreciate some replies from people who have taken this course/friends etc.

I did my research already.  But just to know further about this course. Thanks a lot.

you'll be learning about mosses, a bit about plants, insects and etc. 1st n 2nd year you would travel alot around sabah. its fun. if you're fast enough with the paper workd you can switch on the 1st sem, but usually people only succeed changing on the 2nd sem. there are tons of paper work involved.

I got my offer to ums ^^.There's some problem with the ums site?cuz i was able to check my surat tawaran this noon, but moments later it doesn't work again ==''
Anyways,I got aquaculture. Is there anything I can know about this course? thank you~

And I read a previous comment that there's no swimming pool there right? meaning they don't have a swimming team?  smile.gif
*
Aquaculture to me is very good choice. you'll be learning for 1st year mostly with the mariners (marine bio), you dont need swimming pool, theres a beach right thre. you'll be spending most of ur time cultivating fish. usually last 3rd year mostly you'll be on a trip to japan. there are several japanese lectures and their are very strict but the bad things is they arent that fluent in english LOL. but still i would say their learning curve is quite steep. good choice for the aquaculture.

Hey! I want to ask about changing course in UMS. I'm interested in studying in food science but unfortunately I get the other offered, HG36 - PENGELUARAN TERNAKAN. I really have no idea what course is this. My cGPA is very low, it is only 2.58, so I wonder whether high possibility that I can change that course to food science in UMS? This is because I heard that you need quite high cGPA to studying food science. What should I do then? Anyone or senior here can give me some advice or anything? Your help is very much appreciated.

Husbandry in english word. you work with animals, how to breed and care them. you'll be in kampus sandakan. kampus sandakan is very good, nice facilities with nice hostel! this course is quite new, under the Pertanian Lestari faculty. My crush is there, send her my regards cry.gif . you can always try to change, mostly after intake there will be several tempat kosong because not all will accept the offer letter. just try. ask the Deans. and always.. ALWAYS push the staff to do their work. keep updates with them.

E&E is a good engineering course in UMS. Cause they are very active in participating in national competition such as the SMART CAR competition and also ROBOCON... quite interesting as well. Well, what you prepare? prepare to work hard for the next four years.. and yes, if you get results, no worries many companies will scout you. Your course have several good teachers and in fact in my opinion one of them is damn smart.. prepare to work damn hard.. hahaha..
*
I see I see, I like to involve myself in those national competition, then I think I will not change the course, but still depends...haha
anyway, I got E&E at UMS, yeah~ rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

International Marketing is one of the courses with leng chai and leng luiz.. haha..
erm.. its kinda difficult.. but my friend did able to change uni later on. from Sabah to Pahang. but wasted the first year. you may ask the office later. as usual, u must get approval from UNIMAS first..if there is any vacancy..

For those who wants to change course, if you want to not waste your time and change fast. First you must get to the school, find the dean or the office there, and try to ask for the procedure. Normally, they must have vacancy in the course, then only they can let you in. So, basically you must report at your respective course first, then only try to process it out. You MAY or MAY NOT get what you wants. It all depends on the dean and also the vacancy of the course. It's possible to change, but you need to work for it and keep rushing them, cause normally they are quite busy and they tends to forget, get the respective signature, prepare surat rayuan and etc. I do not know the proper procedure, maybe someone who did this can advice them more. =)

1. Cannot advise you much cause not from business school. But, what i know is the business school have been very active in participating in many competitions. So, i would say the school is good. About the environment, the university is quite pretty as it is beside the sea. The students there are friendly, and the environment is safe according to my 4 years study there.

2. to me, the hostel is below par. Except for Kampung E. Internet service is provided. For faster internet service, library will be a better place.

3. Yes, but maxis line is a bit slow there.

UMS is special, cause all the faculties are in one area. Therefore, the campus for food science is just nearby in the area. I would say it is facing the 1borneo.

Facilities depends on the school itself. but the food faculty's facilities is quite good. Hostel, to me only Kampung E is considered good. Environment there is nice, friendly Sabah people and nice view. but in my time, the bus is not efficient enough, but throughout the years, maybe they have made some improvement.

A couple of quick questions to clarify some things.

According to this UMS calendar
Registration of new students is on 2 September 2012 but in the offer letter on the web, it states 1 and 2 September 2012. So, which is which?

Also (I had no idea about this), after the registration and during the Minggu Suai Mesra, will we be given a hostel room to stay?

Appreciate if anyone could help. smile.gif

You mean the hostel given by UMS will be nearer the campus you study? So, it would be like the campus you stay is depends on what course you are going to study?

Not exactly, hostel arrangement are set by ums are not based on ur courses..

Ums are quite big. There is hostel area, lecture hall area, admin area, sports area and school/faculty area..each of this places are far from each other. Having ur own transport in ums is a big advantage bcz u dnt hv to que up for bus.
