ps- real answer: tinting only works if you're having a problem of DIRECT sunlight lighting up and warming up your house interior, if you don't have this prob, then tinting is useless as the tinted window itself is like a huge indoor heater.

If your house is facing north west, then expect the heats at night

i've installed this kind of tint, definitely helps a lot

i have 2 layer of curtains, when it's not that hot, i open window and put on that sheer curtain for some natural light
when it gets really hot bright outside, i close window and close both sheer and the blockout/blocking curtain, and the aircond doesn't have to work that hard to cool the room

I bought the sun-out /black out curtains 2 size bigger to cover the walls surrounding the window to reduce the heat transfer to the room.
Very effective and reduces the electric bill plus lesser the load on the aircon.

Why you didn't pay attention to heat source when buy the house? That's why people say Feng Shui is important, Feng Shui is not just about superstitions, it has practicality in real life, like where the heat from Sun come from, where heat escapes, source of noise, etc etc.
