if you are flying sq transiting through changi, there is no problem checking through, even if the next day, have done it many times, and changi is 100% safe.....nobody will break into your bag....

klia on the other hand.....hence mh's advice....

sq in all terminals (ie t2 and t3) as well as the new Jewel, has dedicated "early check in" lounges....yes special dedicated separate lounges for early check ins....other airlines have special counters open throughout the specified opening hours for early check in and bag drops...

all class of travel allowed...

people are so used to crappy service (klia) and crappy airlines (aa) that you all are programmed to expect the worst and don't know what"world class" means.....

Other airport I rarely have issue because checking in bag kiosk always manned 24/7, rarely has long q.
Unlike klia, most of the airlines have underperformed/confused kiosk staffs, long q, opening at time too close to boarding time. The only opportunity to enjoy few hours in lounge is only by transiting or without checking in baggage I guess.

MH does allow early bag drop within calender day, if you don't mind the bags in the cargo holding area for a long time....have done before....(also can drop bag night before, but in business class)....

In any case, check ins start usually 3 hrs before.....have arrived 4 hrs prior, queue up, drop bags when it opens and still enjoy 2+hrs of lounge....and sometimes, they just accept your bags even 4 hrs before.....

Next month departing Changi with sq, going to drop bags early and enjoy the new jewel.....lol

As if she were custom officer. wtf.  Asking around her colleagues what to do, unnecessary making awkward situation at the kiosk. I was hoping she would just print my boarding passes I will bear the responsibility if rejected entering in the destination country. Why would she cares?

I fly with EK, QR, SQ/UA etc to Europe/US and back to Msia.
Their checking in counter/kiosk always open early and short q, fast checking in. No bad memories.

Klia always open late, slow and confusing staffs.

Recently, I like to arrange for long transiting time at middle east, can eat/sleep and shower in airport lounge and then arrive Europe/US fresh.  Sleeping in long haul economy seat is not efficient lol.
Klia should be home hub for MH, so it's expected.
Last year depart from klia early morning with silkair to changi for transiting with economy ticket, I almost lost my temper. The kiosk staff refused for group checking in, and redirect my colleagues and I to another airline kiosk after long q. Then after q-ing the other kiosk again pointed back to the same kiosk we 1st q for group checking in. If don't want to work in kiosk just resign, don't make passengers q-ing like idiots. Next time I will be ready to pull my phone to record the incident if any kiosk staff tries to be funny with me again.

Each airport, and each airline has their own policy regarding check in, and bag drops....

Most airports adopts the standard policy of 3 hrs bag drop before flights....Changi stands out as one that encourages transit passengers to visit....they have many extra services to facilitate that ...

In the old days they have the Singapore stopover holidays for as cheap as USD1....they still have the stopover tours...the left luggage charges are cheap.... efficient public transport right to the terminals....

AND.....the long standing policy of early bag drop.....

All with one single simple aim..... encourage you to go downtown and spend money...lol

In some destinations, the airlines MUST ensure compliance with immigration rules.... including processing a valid visa, and/or a return/onward booking....failing which the airlines get fined if passenger arrives and gets turned back.......

So it's necessary.... where were you going?.....

Frankfurt airport is another excellent airport, where you can have early check-in while flying Lufthansa (if not mistaken, certain SA flights as well).

Yup, but I think not when you arrive KLIA and you are compulsory to take their express train.

For Frankfurt airport, you may check in hundreds km away while boarding their train to airport.

Just tried you can enter KLIA 2 Aerotel lounge using boarding pass from KLIA.

Of course, have done that a few times....

In fact, if your cc allows, you can enter any of the 3 landside ppl properties in klia2 with any boarding pass.....including arriving pass at KLIA....

But it has to be international boarding pass..

I think the airport I dislike the most may be Dubai. So big and sometimes you have to walk sooooooo far and through huge crowd to get to the connection gate. No fun at all.

Nowaday I avoid Dubai, Emirate is an overrated airline, business class hard product is bad and service is deteriorating over years. The airport itself is big but nth too impressive as well
