is the plaza lounge downgrade already? just entered penang 1 and the food choice become 2 left only and portion like kids meal.

Penang PPL menu was changed in June (refer below).
Since changing menu, I had entered 3-4 times (last entrance was 2-3 weeks ago), I would say it is quite good.

same card can access to ppl twice within a day? eg before departure at penang ppl ,then another swipe at klia2 gateway after arrival.(use same card)

Maybank should be ok.
Cimb preferred vi tested before.
Amb, HSBC only 1 access / day.
If not listed in t&c, should be fine.

I didn’t take photo but the option for dinner is only the chicken rice and tomato pasta. The food is kid size.
*
Below is today's meal (Penang intl PPL).
Now I understand why you are saying it is like kids meal, because the plate size is rather small.
I didn't eat though, but saw from others, I think the portion is acceptable, you can always ask for another serving.

Dinner only starts at 5pm, before 5 only serve curry mee (all day) and kaya toast.

For cimb preferred vi when did you test?
I've called to customer service, they said unlimited access even if it's on the same day but the second access have certain quota, once the quota full, your second access will be denied.

It was quite some time ago when I travelled with my dad.
End of last year if not mistaken.
Morning go in Penang, evening go in Sg.

Guys is it all PPL around the world charge the same price ?

Got a transit of more than 3 hrs at HK airport, plan to use the ambank world master card to charge for PPL entrance.

Not going for rm500 spend free entrance, so just want to know how much HK PPL charge per entrance after ambank world master card 20% discount

Anyone got any idea ?
*
If not mistaken, USD75 for 2 hours.
After 20% discount will be slightly more than rm250.
You better spend rm500 for it.

QUOTE(jack2 @ Nov 25 2019, 05:14 PM)
Hi,

Any solution for me to enter and take rest in KLIA2 lounge before the next flight in the earliest morning?

I will take the last flight from penang to KLIA2 without baggage as my friend will carry the baggage for me and he will only check in by 5am while I have arrived in KLIA2 1am and will take rest in lounge.

If I have to check in to custom and lounge, i have to drop my baggage and the baggage is not with me.

Any solution to resolve this ya?
*
Can't understand why dont you just follow your friend taking morning flight from Penang.
Overnight in Klia2 PPL is no fun at all (yes, personally tried once, taking next day 1st flight).
I am now still hesitating whether to overnight in First Class lounge, even with nice sofa.

Solution?
1) Take early flight from Pg with your friends (unless price is super expensive, you have no choice but opt for cheaper way to go 1 night earlier).
2) Pay for aerotel (room) and take a good nap there.
3) If you have few cards eligible for aerotel, try to ask whether possible to swipe 3 card x 1 hour to have straight 3 hours nap in aerotel / PPL room.
4) Go outside and find a cheap hotel, since you are not taking super early flight from klia.

They stay in KL. They did not fly from Penang to KL in the earliest morning.

Too tired for you for your first trial?
*
I see.
Yea, a bit regretted while staying there.
It was my first time entering Gateway PPL.
Imagine all chairs with only half length back support.
If not mistaken, seating in aerotel is slightly better (opposite Gateway PPL).
Will still opt for it if no better choice.

Gateway PPL means inside airside and has past immigration?

Why you didn't spend 180 to rent a room? Hehe
*
Both Gateway PPL & Aerotel PPL are at land side aka public area aka outside terminal / before immigration.
There is another PPL inside international departure hall but only open at 4am (not 24 hrs).
Yea, may get a room next round.

I was recently at Taipei airport. Tried using my Loungkey to bring my partner in. I have 2 cards, each with its own unlimited LK access. The lounge in Taipei said that LK only allows 1 entry even though I have 2 different LK.  If you insist, they can swipe both LK, but LK might charge you for the 2nd swipe.

Luckily I was able to use my Maybank card to bring my partner in.
*
Thanks for the info.
Have you tried the same thing in other airport / lounges?

Plaza Premium KLIA also advised the same. Better not to use different LK for multiple entries.

KLIA2 allows entry of the same lounge using different LK.

Would be best to get a card with Priority Pass and another with LK. Citibank used to have PP before they switch to LK.
*
Yup, that's the problem, now we left with Amex Plat Charge Card for PP.
Thanks for the update!

The Amex Charge Card is worth getting if you need to spend RM20k. This will entitle you to 300k MR points + 100k MR (RM20k x 5) = 80k Enrich points or around 70k miles for KF or other airlines. Not a bad return. Another avantage is that their PP comes with lounge access for Principal + 1 Supplementary.
*
If we can get 300k MR every year, I will not hesitate to join tongue.gif
So far I have sufficient coverage for lounge access, don't really need PP at the moment.
I will just stick to M2P.

Entered PPL with my wife at Penang International Airside with 1 KF and 1 MUVI card, i.e. same bank. No complaints from the staff.
Both cards under my name.

Previously did the same combo in May 2019, no problems either.
*
Yup, reported earlier.
So far KF and MBB VI are not restricted by most (if not all PPL).
Mainly Ambank and RHB.

If "this purpose" is lounge - hard to say as depend on what card you are eligible to apply. Some are unlimited, some are not.

Ambank requires 3? (check) overseas transactions within 1 month of the "use". The lounge is also limited and scattered so do review whether you travel to those places first.

CIMB unlimited in Malaysia is up to end of the year only. who knows whether will extend.

Buying PP is only really worth it if you travel often enough. Usually PP slots in to the scenario where you dont fly enough to get lounge access, or you dont accumulate airline loyalty /fly AA only. Alternatively is to sign up for a card that gives the PP free (so save USD99) but pays for access.

Previously Citi Prestige gives a PP with unlimited access at a annual fee less than an equivalent PP bought directly. So on paper - worth it. But that is still a >1k annual fee  - lots of ppl would think twice  - do i fly often enough to justify paying for that?

Key question is how much are you willing to spend out of pocket to get into a lounge.

Personally I don't focus on KLIA & KLIA2 lounges entitlement. Many credit cards now offer free (but limited) access, I only compare the overseas lounges benefit.
LK comes with credit card. Cost and entitlement depends on which card.

Opinion is PP has a tad more lounges. (PP and LK same owner). No idea abt dragonpass.
*
Agree. Just a few corrections and comments.
1) Ambank no longer ask for 3 overseas transactions but RM500 spend +/- 30 days. That was long long ago.
2) Ambank can access to quite a lot overseas lounges, probably just behind MBB (of course we can't compare with PP, LK, DP).
3) Citi Prestige no longer offer PP but LK.
4) only Amex Plat charge card still offers PP in Msia.
5) PP membership cost USD299 for 10 visits or USD429 for unlimited. If you fully utilize it (or close to 10 visits), you shall go for Citi Prestige where the AF is less than USD299. Of course Prestige has "downgraded" to LK but still good enough for most.
6) SC Priority VI is the only other card to offer unlimited LK, without AF (ok, with AF waiver available).

Looking at your concise and good explanation, Ambank is the best in my opinion
Am I right?
I did ask my friend, Ambank just need annual income of 150k/year and there is no annual fee right?
If Citi Prestige dont cover PP anymore then tje choice for lounge is limited right?
How many LK available in KLIA/KLIA2?
*
There is no best card for everyone, but it was my best card too few years ago.
Income requirement is 120k and yes, there is no AF.
Nowadays, basically it sits inside drawer and main purpose I keep it for supp (parents) to enter lounges.
Spending RM500 on the card is a "waste" for me as the benefits is close to nothing after recent devaluation.
If you have no particular card to spend, this is a good card for overseas lounge access.

Citi Prestige is now offering LK, where the lounge coverage is quite equivalent to PP.
For KLIA/2, LK can access to the same PPL.

Ya man... And Citi Prestige has switched to LK which I already have. I'm going to use HLBB Infinite P card now for PP and terminate the Prestige later on. IINM HLBB Infinite P card is the only card that offers PP right now in Malaysia.
*
HLB only gives 4x PP access.
2nd year onwards need to spend RM300k, earning only EM.
If PP is a must, I rather pay for Amex Plat AF.
Else I believe unlimited LK is good enough for most of us here.

But AMEX is still not widely accepted here.  sweat.gif
Ah.... that would still be better than paying rm3250 for nothing. With that kind of money, might as well apply your own PP without the need to get tied to any bank cards.
*
I do agree with what you say if you don't use lounge often.
I am just trying to highlight these 2 topics:
- PP vs LK
- overseas lounges

As we know, LK is the subsidiary of PP, and LK have access to maybe 90% of those PP can access.
You cannot use 2x LK for others to access, but you can* do so for PP.

If you travel frequent + overseas lounges, I believe LK should be sufficient, unless you need to access those few lounges not covered by LK (but access by PP).
You can easily obtained LK from Citi Prestige / SCB Priority VI.

If you travel frequent + local, LK or multiple CC is good enough.

If few travel, Maybank / Ambank do access to quite a number of overseas lounges that Msian go frequently.
Else, get yourself a LK.

IMO, I don't see getting HLB for PP (with 4x access) is a good option.
First year maybe ok, 2nd year onward with 300k spending, no no, I can fly many places by using other CC.

there is a new lounge just opened in helsinki airport, not sure whether ambank will cover it next year
*
Are you referring to the NEW Finnair Platinum Wing?
No chance, that's one of the top OW lounge in Europe!
I also wish to go in to enjoy Finnish sauna.
Just kidding~~

For the also new PPL in Helsinki, it is located in non-Schengen departure.
I think you can't go in while taking Finnair transiting to European countries, only can access while leaving Finland.
Usually the banks will sign new agreement with PPL for 1 year (Jan-Dec), of course there is always chance for PPL to throw in new lounges for the banks.
Just wait till Jan (sometimes Feb / Mar) and bank will update us.
There is also a worst case scenario where bank cut away PPL benefit or limited to local lounge only tongue.gif
