Hello all, I'm currently driving Toyota Vios A/T(First Generation).
I've done some engine mod during the overhaul of my old 2xxk engine, the stock pistons were replaced with the largest pistons available and port and polish were done too.
So based on these engine mods, I'm wondering what would be the optimal exhaust setup, or, the optimal exhaust piping size for my car?
I'm looking for a smooth FULL RPM RANGE improvement, but leaning a little bit more to the PICK-UP side, because I drive 50% city and 50% highway.
Any reply is appreciated, thank you guys! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Nah man, it's never my intention to mod into ah beng..There's s flow what....Ah Beng exhaust is not what I want.
What I really want is to squeeze a little bit more from the engine, and to keep it running it great condition because it's my daily use car here.
And thus I'm asking question here bro..

I know about straight pipe bro, people do that for track car, not daily use car ma.....
But my question is what's the optimal setup for the car, I drive 50% city 50% highway and climb some hills too..
That's what confusing me.

Then I recommend supercircuit extractor

But leave the tip as stock

If AT 1.6, can consider going for the exhaust system build below

* 4-1 Extractor
* Auto Bullet
* S-Flow + Exhaust Tip or Straight Flow Muffler
* For piping you decide yourself, the size should be around 1.6 to 1.8 I think .....

1.8' pipe should be sufficient, you're mildly modified.
Extractor get the longest you can, as you want accleration not top end power.
Bullet & muffler, up to you how quiet you want it but remember it comes with a penalty of restriction.

What's the different between long extractor and short extractor?

Thank you so much for the info here bro.
The recommended setup here is actually similar with what I'm currently having, it's just that my piping is 2inch from head to toe, and it caused lacks of torque.
But I'm not 100% sure if it's all because of the piping itself, part of the reason could be de-cat?

Good question! What's the different between both long and short 4-1 and 4-2-1?

1.8 should be just right for both acceleration and top speed right?
I'm now using 2inch from head to toe and I've been feeling lacks of torque, top speed is good but just how many times would I rev that much..It's not a VTEC engine anyway.
I've got a short 4-1 actually, and my muffler is mugen twinloop, with a bullet inside with something like a (SPINNING FISH SCALE)
Oh ya! By 1.8inch you mean inside or outside?

In theory, short extractor will give that torque boost at higher rpm
long extractor will give at a lower rpm

Long 4-1 will give low rpm torque boost
short 4-1 will give high rpm torque boost
4-2-1 will give broader powerband.

4-1 would deliver the power stronger
4-2-1 would deliver softer and broader.

but diameter of the extractor pipe affect the performance too.

Is actually a quite long list of what to look at the extractor.
Interpert how you needed.
Different engine, different driver, require different setup.

I would say 1.8 would to give just enough better flow for a broad powerband.
As too large defeat your acceleration, too small would restrict.

I give you my experience.
I used to run 4-1 short on my 1.3 campro, i felt like the power was way up high in the rev.
Now I run 4-2-1 sequantial extractor, now I feel my powerband is around 2-3k RPM.
You have to really try to know, I'm only giving you info.

I think the biggest restriction would be your swirl bullet.
Inner diameter 1.8 inch.

Good luck finding the setup. thumbsup.gif

Just go for GAN GA+ you will gain much more than exhaust mod.

low budget then just swap a performance cat converter will do,

if got budget then change the whole system from kaki exhaust shop also will do. but their welding kinda sucks.

I see...thanks for such detailed reply man!
You say 4-2-1 gives softer and broader powerband, how about the difference between long and short one?
I'm wondering why would you say the mid bullet is the biggest restriction? Because it's actually kind of straight and open inside..Just that it's got that fish scale thing..but it doesn't seem restrict at all?
Yea I know how the piping size would affect the performance but then I'm really confused whenver people talking about the piping size, are they talk about the inner diameter or outer diameter?
The 2inch I'm having now, the mechanic claimed that it's its outer diameter that is 2inch, the innter diameter is 1.8inch..But then I'm feeling lacks of low torque?

I will let you know what do I currently have in my setup:

4-1 header(short)
DE-CAT
Mid swirl bullet
Mugen twinloop
2inch piping from head to toe

The sport cat you mentioned, I bought it, it's already on the way!
