The tyre guy suggested to change my tyre size from 185/65/15 to 195/55/15. Is this correct ? Please advice, guys. Thanks.

More matching is 195/60r15 but I guess he’s suggesting 195/55r15 due to it having more choices of tyres

Yeah, he did mention that 55 series have more models to choose. And, also said that 60 series too heavy and too big. Is it true ?

That is not a good advice. The new size will be 4.2% smaller than the original size which is too much.

Is 195/60/15 the correct size from 185/65/15 ?

Yes, 195/60R15 is closer to your original tyre size with the new diameter only 1% smaller.

Thanks. But, is it true that it is better to stick back to original size ?

Not necessary as it's ok to switch sizes, within limits.
In your case, the tyre guy's recommendation of 195/55/15 size does make sense for extra brand choices to pick from (if that's important to you) albeit speedometer/odometer readings run off by 4% .

IINM, my old vios size originally come with similar size.. i did change to 195/55/15 for better choices of tyre.. and most good tyre hardly available in rare size..
I think its no harm to reduce just a bit in diameter size as long its grip and speed rating are above from standard..
Only that the speedometer reading not tally with GPS speed..

Hi Bro,

you have to break these numbers in to portions to understand their meaning. So let me help you like this. (Info provided is the most common one's, if you want more details you can research further with our sifu Sensei Google.)

the first set of three digits (185 or 195) refers to the width of the tyre. (Commonly people prefer 195 rather than 185, below pro's and cons are based on 195 size perspective)
Pro - More rubber on the surface = better pickup on straights, stable drive during turns, better braking capability.
Cons - Slightly more expensive, requires more torque to move.

the second set of two digits (65/55) is the height of the tire between the last point of the tyre toucing the tarmac till rim. (Commonly people prefer 55 rather than 65, below pro's and cons are based on 55 size perspective)
Pro - a low profile look, faster torque response (Pickup), faster braking capability, cheaper since most people buy this sizes.
Cons - Thread wears faster, car body tends to hit KNNCCB sharp humps, sucks more fuel

the 3rd set of two digits (15) refers to your car rim size.

Personally for me, I'd prefer the 195/50/15 setup due to the pro's I get when it comes to safety.
p/s: Money can earn, life you only have 1.

I know some might not agree with my feedback, again I highlight this is my personal preference. thumbup.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

latio i think its not an almera predecessor.. its available for 1.6 and 1.8 liter engine, while almera only available with 1.5 liter engine..
