4X genre games (look it up) are better as they have various buffs via diplomacy, trade etc. For teaching basic income and expense simple RTS mechanics are good enough, but let me dumb it down even further:

If you're earning Rm3000 and spending Rm1500 on Starbucks every month while your enemy is earning Rm2500 and investing all of it, you are going to be fucked eventually. Then you end up wondering why people are ahead and crying that the whole world is unfair to you and the Jews control the banks.
