lol Y540 customize cannot select 144Hz for 1660Ti/2060?
*
Apparently so. You can only get 144Hz screen with the customisable 1650 or pre-made models.
Really dumbass selection.
Had to go with 60 Hz screen when I customised my 1660Ti Y540 during the EPIC18 coupon promo.

Hi, does anyone here with a Y540 suffer from audio desync?
For example when you play a Youtube video and after about 5 minutes the audio seems to get ahead of the video.
The longer the video plays the more the audio precedes the video.
I've looked for solutions online but none seem to work.

use older audio driver?
*
Doesn't work either.
I've even used Windows Audio drivers yet the issue still persists.

Using LatencyMon, I've been able to pinpoint the latency issues to Nvidia drivers.
The simple fix was Nvidia Settings --> Manage 3D settings --> Power management mode --> Prefer maximum performance.

hybrid mode off?
*
Interestingly, with Hybrid Mode ON.
I double checked using the 'Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area' option to make sure the GPU was inactive during YouTube video playback.
After setting the 3D settings to Prefer maximum performance, my DPC latency issues diminished greatly.
There are still some minor latency issues which I'm still troubleshooting but video playback is much more bearable now.

Setting to max performance will cause decrease in battery life and slight increase in heat since the GPU will always sit at base turbo clock even when idling. Try using Adaptive
*
Have tested that Adaptive does have the same effect as Prefer maximum performance.
I've tested video playback in safe mode and can confirm there are no latency issues even over 20 minutes of playback.
That would pinpoint the latency issues mainly to drivers taking too long to respond.
The audio still does desync over longer durations of playback (less than 0.5s desync over 20 minutes),
but at least it isn't as bad as before changing Nvidia driver settings (1s desync over just 15 minutes).
I'm just hoping Lenovo can release proper driver updates to address this issue as there are others like me who suffer the same problem.

Anyone has a audio crackling issue on their y540?
*
QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Oct 6 2019, 07:30 PM)
Try uninstalling audio driver and use windows default driver, see got difference or not

Well after a few days of troubleshooting and multiple hours of testing I have managed to fix ALL of my sound issues,
including audio crackling and the very annoying audio desync.
It mostly boils down to power management issues. Fixes include:

1. Nvidia Settings --> Manage 3D settings --> Power management mode --> Optimal Power
2. Setting up a high performance power plan in Control Panel
3. Preventing Realtek drivers from switching to low power mode

4. Reducing WiFi transmit power

5. I have also performed this fix because LatencyMon showed HDaudbus.sys causing issues with my laptop.
Please do be careful and know what you are doing before performing changes to the registry.

yeah no dolby makes the audio suck, tried before

My bad. The bolded red words are hyperlinks to the respective forum posts which elaborate more on the instructions.
I'll edit the post with the links separated for better clarity.

What do you mean by audio crackling and audio desync? Mind explain to me? I wanna check if my Y540 has the problem or not. Thank you
*
Audio crackling is when you play videos/music with your speakers and you can sometimes hear as if there is static or a crackling sound.
Sometimes you can even hear the audio interrupt briefly with a 'pop' sound.
At louder volumes it becomes quite obvious.

Audio desync is when you play a video long enough, the audio starts to precede the video.
Try playing a 20 minute YouTube video (preferably with someone constantly talking) non-stop and
near the end of the video see if the audio matches their mouths talking.
