ok so i tested with 2 sessions of dota. each session about 3 hours then i reset the values.

for max temps, the diff between core #0 and #3 is about 6~8 degree, i think max i saw was 10 degree diff between core 0 and core 3.

but for average and current temps all 4 cores are about +- 2~4 degrees from each other..

looks normal...can try repaste...or lap the heatsink like I did haha

just get the 300 nits.
because not only is it brighter, the colour accuracy is also better.
45% ntsc vs 72% ntsc..

the 250 nits screen is literal rubbish.

^^this, well explained

Thank you xcves and ZM Fong.
In the end, I got Y530 with 300nits and 144Hz screen.
The other configuration are i7-8750H, 2x8GB DDR4, GTX1050Ti and 128GB SSD+1TB.
What is the first thing that I need to do with this laptop?
Must undervolt first?
*
Check temps first. Then undervolt. If needed then repaste

Why don't get your own RAM and SSD since it's cheaper?

This is a ready stock bought from computer shop.
The 8GB RAM was bought at the shop to upgrade to become total 16GB.
128GB SSD + 1TB HDD came initially with the laptop, I actually think of getting 256GB SSD, but the computer guy advised me not to because scared will affect the laptop warranty.
*
Model 81FV00M8MJ correct?

Will not void warranty (at least with my case). Changed HDD to SSD in my Y520 and service center still honor me warranty service. Even the guy told me that how it works: Laptop warranty still remains except for the SSD part (obviously)

Can I know what type of SSD that comes with Y530?
It is PCIe SSD rather than M.2?
Is it considered as NVMe?
*
It only supports PCIe/NVMe M.2 SSD like many Lenovo laptops. Dunno why they dun support SATA M.2

You can add 2.5 inch SATA SSD also

Yes M8MJ.
Will 256GB SSD better than 128GB, except in term of more storage capacity?
*
Usually larger capacity has longer endurance and slightly faster speeds but it depends on which SSD model

If putting 2.5 inch SATA SSD, meaning that the 1TB HDD will need to be taken out?
*
Yes, I did it with my previous Y520

Why does Y530 fan suddenly sound loud (spin fast) at interval and only for a short moment? I do not play game at that time. Any problem with that?
*
Well known issue with Y530 - fan control while idling

I only know this RPFTJ128PDD2EWX for the SSD.
Y530 can fit both 2240 and 2280 size?
*
Union memory (China brand), probably DRAMless (since it's a 2242 M.2) and low quality

If the original one comes with 2242 (128GB) then yes. Remove the extension bracket and you can put in 2280

Does changing to Samsung 970 Evo NVMe 250GB have significant difference in performance in real life?
*
970 EVO is overkill for regular consumer

DRAMless not suitable for OS drive, get at least something like Kingston A1000

Samsung 970 EVO is expensive.
Other better model than Kingston would be Sandisk and AData?
*
Best value probably A1000. Note that Legion series laptops don't support SATA M.2 (although Sandisk and Adata also got decent SATA SSD models)

are these discrete GC les spowerful than the Legions' GC? I assume prices would differ quite a bit too. The T480 is quite expensive given its specs
*
1. MX150/MX250 is significantly slower than 1050/1050TI/1060 offered in Legion Y530
2. One is gaming laptop, another is premium business laptop. Different category, cannot compare directly - many differences

Looking at this too and I think adding another 8gb ddr4 2666 ram to run in dual-channel and a 128gb m.2 nvme ssd would make it run even better 😮. Gotta add another 3XX.

What does the sifus here thinks?
*
Yeah recommended, however 128GB isn't worth it. Get Kingston A1000 240GB if you want something cheap

QUOTE(xcves @ Apr 25 2019, 11:16 AM)
Get the 300 nits panel with i5 and 1050ti if possible
*
There's no 300 nits panel for i5 models (previously can customize)

Yea I asked the customer service and I was told the screen is only 60Hz not 144Hz, any chance we can customize it in the future?
*
I don't think we can customize it...but we'll see...the display should be 300 nits 72% NTSC (if not then I'll be mad)

Not comparable due to size difference
