Samsung 970 EVO is expensive.
Other better model than Kingston would be Sandisk and AData?
*
Best value probably A1000. Note that Legion series laptops don't support SATA M.2 (although Sandisk and Adata also got decent SATA SSD models)

How if I want to buy a new 250GB NVMe to replace the existing 128GB?

If Lenovo discontinue y530?
Online store can get anymore....
*
they are back available in the store now..
but can't customize the specs at all

probably took it off due to shortages. before this, the estimated delivery also took around 4 weeks from their usual 1 to 2 weeks policy.

and also preparing for y540 i guess.

My brother is thinking about getting a laptop/tablet combo with active pen (as opposed to passive pens?)

he's thinking of Yoga like the affordable Yoga 530 vs MIIX 520 or even the Surface Go.

Im a traditional laptop user myself, so I am leaning towards Yoga 530, but my brother is rather young and may be open to more "experimental" designs like the detachable-keyboard MIIX 520

What are your thoughts? What are the pros and cons of the 2 laptops?

aha, some of us here use it as working laptops too.
for example me.

i game on the side and its not my main priority.
work is.

its an alternative to thinkpad for users who want to have a serious laptop that can also play AAA games.
a matured looking gaming laptop lah basically. far from those stereotypical gamery laptops.

That's a very nice looking laptop.

Granted I just bought X1C 6th gen, because I travel a lot so i need a light one. plus it looks great, executive laptop (although im just a sales man).

The TP series have models which can add MX150 and MX250.. are these discrete GC les spowerful than the Legions' GC? I assume prices would differ quite a bit too. The T480 is quite expensive given its specs

1. MX150/MX250 is significantly slower than 1050/1050TI/1060 offered in Legion Y530
2. One is gaming laptop, another is premium business laptop. Different category, cannot compare directly - many differences

yeap!
finally something that can game without looking like a care-free teenager with RGB coming from every direction.

anyway imo, lenovo laptops are heading the right direction in terms of looks/style/sleekness these days. so thats good i guess.
the X1C looks good too.

yeah they are less powerful. Current legion laptops use same GC as the X1E, GTX 1050ti. but the newer ones are coming with even more powerful GC.
well they are marketed as gaming laptops after all so thats a given.

Pricing wise almost similar actually, as in the Legion and ThinkPad lines respectively are considered quite pricey for their specs vs other brands..

but they are both different categories of laptops as well, so they got their own pricing and cant really compare between the two..

Well X1E uses 1050Ti MAX-Q and it's clock speds are lowered , basically it's a nerfed 1050Ti. However the Y530 uses 1050Ti without Max-Q ,and it can push the thermals higher

But then it's a gaming laptop - so shouldn't be an issue....
