Speedtest around Kota Kinabalu, Sabah 👍🏼

At Starbucks, Warisan Square 😃 yeah other areas usually it's 20-30mbps...i guess it depends on location...once you entered shopping mall, the connection usually drop to 3G

Speedtest this morning in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This would be the average speed.

Pros & Cons of using unifi mobile

Pros:
1. Cheap for unlimited data & calls
2. Speed is quite ok (not too fast, not too slow)


Cons:
1. Customer service is almost non-existent
2. Coverage will drop to 3G indoors (particularly at shopping malls)
3. iMessage & Facetime for iPhone can only be done via email address. I tried using phone number several times, never succeeded.
4. In certain areas, when u make/received call, the connection will drop to 3G & never goes back to 4G even when you're in 4G area. (This only happens in certain areas, most areas the connection did switch back to 4G instantly).

All in all, the pros outweigh the cons, at least for me, & u will never find a plan like this with the big 3 telcos.

Yeah...some phones are supported (android) but not all. I dont care too much about volte thou.

Speed on 3g is acceptable...usually around 3-5mbps.

U wish! 😆 currently only digi proactively upgrading their loyal subscribers plan....but at the end of the day, only u know whats best & works for u....doesnt matter which telco

In my experience, you'll definitely connected to celcom 3g when there's no 4g lte. Try with prepaid first, see how it goes, they have extended the $59 promo, so more time for you to consider your option.

I'm coming from maxis postpaid, i have a good experience on unifi mobile so far too. Coming from well established telco, we dont have to set our expectation to be "up there". Those big telcos have been around for decades and to have assumption that the service will be comparable is wrong.

& yes the "peace of mind" that i dont have to purchase additional quota or restrict myself to not use data definitely a welcome change for 2020.

Right? Nothing to lose...glad that we get to actually tried the big/premium telcos & now try the "relatively new" telco.

For me, i live in a city area, if it works at home & at work, i have no complain, it's not like i'm in rural area most of the time. Hence, do some research before you port in...where you are most of the time...

Some people preferred cheap monthly fee, hence they chose umobile

Some preferred phone contract/instalment, wide coverage, & willing to pay extra, hence; maxis & celcom

Some has loyalty towards telco, hence, they stick to that particular telco.

U will have to give up some things in any telco...big telcos plans usually comes at a premium price, usually no unlimited data, maxis postpaid has to be combined with fibre for u to enjoy unlimited data. I don't need fibre at home, some people does. New telcos doesn't have as wide coverage but can provide u unlimited data. So U have to choose...

At the end of the day, ask yourself, what do you want? 😃

So sick of people telling others not to use speedtest app...People can use whatever speed test app they want...cause you're not paying their phone bill 🙄

KK, Sabah. But results varies from location to location. This one is in the middle of city area. Average speeds in other areas would be around 20-30mbps. This is for my location & case scenario.

Speed test at night...& yes, it's a valid speed test 🙄
