I am confident my DIY approach will beat StashAway's result. So I run both - stashaway for fallback, some DIY investments to keep the journey fun.

can share the % of how much you are putting in your own portfolio? which share to buy?

Paiseh, I meant not confident. Stashaway risk 18% and make up half of my portfolio.
*
haha so no share to share? cause i'm all in REIT, real actual property, now starting stashAway for short term before moving $$$ into REITS.

Anyway why 18%?

QUOTE(jusTinMM @ Aug 27 2019, 05:13 PM)
currently my risk is 14%...possible to increase the risk for my next coming fund?
*
Why 14% ya?

PS: I'm personally doing 20% for retirement plan. 36% for holiday plan. and it's a weekly deposit. haha it's to fund for my interest i would say.

Reits not bad hehe
As for SA, currently at 36%
The risk percentage just based on personal risk appetite
*
so really there's no proper formula for the % of risk appetite ya? Now the way i setup my SA portfolio it's really base on my need. I think soon i'll do one for gadget purchase & property downpayment as well.

Now doing RM388 weekly for retirement 20%
RM188 for holiday weekly 36%

I'll see how good it goes for a couple of months before deciding further.

*
haha how to open a SGX account? Airasia thinking of it. Finally manage to accumulate the 100k unit for ARRET now going for ALAQAR or MQREIT need to read up more about their portfolio on all the building they managing before start buying in bulk. haha

The biggest hurdle is to have a Singapore bank account, you should try poking local Malaysia branch to let you open an iSavvy account, before resorting to more expensive options like paying a visit to DBS at MBFC.

Once you got a bank account there things are lot easier.

So easiest combo for Malaysians not residing in Singapore: Maybank isavvy saving + Maybank Kim Eng brokerage
*
Thank you bro! let's stick to StashAway topic in this section haha. a little off topic.

thanks bro! seems like a good guide to follow. Anyway stashAway will only be like 5% of my investment? so maybe should go all out.. 36% for all portfolio.

US market stagnant + if you'd started after May 2020, MYR continuously strengthen against USD so it flattened out any gains in USD. Remember that StashAway carries some forex risk so if MYR gets stronger, gains might end up lesser.
*
indeed.. really not much movements.. last week i still see RM200+ positive node.. now it's -RM51.. alamak.. haha but like some others said.. gonna have it place down there to balance up my investment portfolio.

i quite like SA btw.
i trade myself in bursa, FSM & etoro.
the return i get is not as high as SA.

but, due to windfall, crypto still top my list.

1) Binance - CRYPTO  (>100%)
2) SA - Robo ETF (455)
3) ETORO - US Stocks (23%)
4) FSM - Unit Trust (11%)
5) Rakuten - Malaysia Stock (- 49%)
*
I'm also withdrawing from SA.. Keeping only 1 portfolio left with is at negative 3/4%. the small amount of money i've place in SA since Aug 2020... basically there's literally no movement.

I'm now moving them back in REIT in Bursa adding more into my portfolio in Bursa.
I'm also on FSMOne at least in FSMOne i still have some green grass to see unlike SA. haih.. Given up hope with SA.

SA - 8% left.
Bursa - 52% , REIT + BLUECHIPS which gives dividend regularly
FSMOne- 40%
Once XRP fall below RM3 again i'll bang it with a huge some again. hahaha

their new ESG portfolio for general investing good la.. much better than the normal one stacking so much in KWEB (main reason why many lost money is this).
thematic portfolio depends on market movement, need more years to see results.
*
RM25k in SA for 2 years.. no win no lose.. surplus a few hundred nia.. i withdrawn all out late last year.

thumbup.gif good that you found out what you want, realized what your true risk and preferences are, while in investing in SA for the last 2 years and managed to come out with GAIN....
many had realized that too but they exited SA with losses and BAD experience
*
those who exited with a lose regardless what they invest in.. they will not gain.. cause they basically can't hold.. investment isn't really for someone who would react base on knee jerk. Anyway SA is just too slow for me cause at the same time in Bursa i already brought in additional 10-20k profit, crypto an additional couple of thousand with just a small figure of RM6k investment while SA with RM25k only a couple of hundred.

PS: FSMOne similar experience place RM50k for a year.. returned was only around RM600.

hmm.gif just wondering why those that knows how to drives with good results like those car racers, would want to take a public bus?

you had been exposed to volatile markets can came out good,.....and are still doing it,...what makes you want to go for UT or SA?
*
cause wanted to have a peace of mind lo. cause in stock market even small time trader like me i have to see daily, see whether can sell or not. But UT/SA just park there.. long long login once to peep on it. so yah.. FSMOne after a year i notice okay can't make it. i won't get to retire on time if that's the surplus and SA after 2 years same thing.. cannot be.. hence pulled out.

Anyway now money diverted back to bank stocks, tnb, crypto. once build sufficient will buy some on REIT as well. looking at UOAREIT or back into ARREIT where i first started to trade in bursa.

solely on car side - Lazy.

also, race cars on public roads can be very jarring and spine breaking uncomfortable.
*
yeah and sometimes you may crash and burn too..

good example:
bornoil bought at 0.09 cents stucked there for 2 years ady. now 0.03 cents only. RM9k left RM3k now.
topglove bought average down at RM3.8 now stucked at RM2.1 only. RM19k left 10.5k

both stocks are good example of investment which i have to hold on for a very long time cause crashed and burned. haha
