I believe you mean trading at a premium or discount not overvalued or undervalued. It is normal for etf to trade at premium or discount of it NAV, as it is traded like a normal share.

https://www.etf.com/etf-education-center/et...s-and-discounts

If we want to talk about value ,that we should look at P/E, generally that is not applicable to tech stock where typically we look at PEG.

https://etfdb.com/compare/lowest-pe-ratio/

However ,like stock low P/E does not necessarily mean good value, it could be trading at low P/E for a reason, for example the trailing 4 quarter p/e might be good but forward P/E might be high. Same thing with stock with high P/E , trailing could be high but forward P/E might be lower.

If you want to time the market SAMY is not for you
*
nothing about timing/speculate the market, but instead calculate whether if the ETF is worth the price that they are stating, but anyway, backspace66 has already share with me the additional info, will take a look into those

My 22% if calculate directly unrealised return / total deposit (MYR) - it is ~10.6%

Have been DCAing weekly on average RM250 since 19 Feb. I think it is okay return not so much fun lol

High risk high reward liddat one. If you use 22% not so high risk so dun be sad if not so high return.

That is why I am looking to unlock 36% and slowly DCA into that from my 22% or cash.
*
that seems great, maybe my portfolio is still early stage, 18% portfolio, for 1.5 months, only around 2% laugh.gif
i wonder when it will reach the average 8%

I err, DCAed I think. If I got changes in deposit pattern it’s mostly bcoz I have other commitments rather than because I want to time the market.

NAV price reflect daily.  Income distribution once a month.

Mon 24    NAV 0.5192
Tue 25    NAV 0.5192

Hence there is no movement on the Simple figure.
https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/fsmone/fun...mic-Income-Fund
*
that means it is still the same as 1 month FD?
i think there was a reply showing there is record of few cents added everyday then there will be a dividend payout at the end of the month.

Correct me if i am wrong.

Basically there's nothing so special about Simple™.
It's just a money market fund that works in unit trust/mutual fund mechanism governed by the daily movement of NAV and pays out distribution in monthly basis.
In short it is just a FD without the need to commit for maturity tenure by offering flexible withdrawal at any time.
*
just wondering, if the NAV drops, any impact to the money i put in?
and since the distribution is being paid out on monthly basis, what if i withdraw now, will they realize the amount from the day i put in until the day i withdraw? does it work that way?

If NAV drops, of course there's impact to the valuation of your Simple™ holding.
But given the risk rated by SAMY, it is very unlikely as you can the graph, the drop in NAV is mostly due to paid out distribution.

https://www.eastspring.com/my/funds-and-sol...s?fundcode=E026

Regarding the second part of your question, I'm not sure how it works.
If using unit trust working mechanism, on ex-distribution date, if you don't have any units held at fund manager registrar, you won't be entitled for the distribution.
*
i only want to ensure my emergency fund doesn't drop in amount just because i put in Simple sweat.gif

The risk rated by SAMY is 1.8% only.
When NAV drop due to distribution, you'll be paid for the distribution.
The money will be credited into your Simple™ portfolio and won't be reinvested until new deposit comes in.
*
yea, i saw as what they claimed, the risk is similar to FD.
and damn, then there is no point if the dividend is not being reinvested doh.gif

just top up RM1 to Simple™ portfolio for dividend reinvested.
if you starts Simple this Monday, the emergency fund might drop 0.05% in total amount (principal + dividend received).  1 weeks later, it should be look okay a bit.
*
wait, that means Simple isn't as safe as putting in FD?

YES, if you compared Simple with FD directly....
for according to their FAQs

Is StashAway Simple™ risky?
This is an investment, so there is a level of risk, but it’s incredibly low.
The StashAway Risk Index for StashAway Simple™ is 1.8%.
That means you have a 99% chance of not losing more than 1.8% of your AUM in a given year

StashAway Simple™ is as risky as investing in a fixed deposit issued by licensed financial institutions.
The underlying fund in StashAway Simple™, Eastspring Investments Islamic Income Fund, invests in Islamic money market instruments (fixed deposits) issued by financial institutions or their parent companies with a minimum credit rating of A3 or P1 by RAM Rating Services Berhad.
Hence, the risk is the credit worthiness of the institutions such as AmBank Islamic Berhad, Public Islamic Bank Berhad and Maybank Islamic Berhad which were the top 3 holdings as of March 2020.

yea, that's the point i saw on SA, that's why i put in, but the interest are not updated as what the other showed, that's why i was curious.
hmm, let me see how it goes in a month time.

The money market fund is prone to OPR risk.
The projected return by Simple™ is 2.4% pa.
*
yea, i am aware that it is just projected and affected by OPR, that means it may be lower or higher.
But still better than putting in bank for now, this amt of emergency fund is wasteful to be just put in bank, and not required immediately...hence, i opt for Simple.

If you want to be "safer", opt for PMMMF.
It'll be a fixed price fund and distribution will be credited by end of the month.

Don't know how to create a poll here, but here's the hypothetical..

If you feel a market crash is coming, do you:

A) Make donno, keep DCA. Rebalance portfolio at best
B) Do a profit taking now. Withdraw and keep bullets for market crash re-entry
*
anyway, can anyone knows to be frank? It is all based on feel, and it becomes same nature as gambling
