Recently reading a book called Unshakeable by Tony Robbins. Really eye opening stuff with regards to the impact of fees.

Talking about active vs passively managed investment, I do think the client stand to end up with far less money in the long run with an actively managed fund. This is due to the difference in fees. Don't think that a mere extra 2% a year in fees for an actively managed fund is a small thing.

In 30 years (assuming both passive and active both get the same returns for investment - which is a BIG IF, considering most actively managed funds fail to beat the market over a long period), the active investor will end up with as much as 66% less than he would have had with the passive investment.

Just started with SAMY with a 14% portfolio on 1st July. Want to wish everyone here prosperous investing wherever you put your money.

I still keep my 2 portfolios (moderate & very aggressive) in Wahed. Planning to open one more portfolio in SAMY with 36%.

Can anyone share what is the gross returns YTD on a 36% portfolio?
*
So far for my 36% SRI, my TWR is 27.66% and MWR is 32.99%.
Both in RM. Invested since Dec-18, and haven't withdrawn a single cent. Just kept DCA consistently.

so you not scare liao and will continue to DCA even when your investment drops?

By right, that's the definition of DCA. You keep investing regardless of the market conditions.

If annualised still SRI 30% n 36% get the best
*
Yup. In terms of annualised data, SRI 30% & 36% still come up tops. That's a good sign too, means their algorithm is working as intended.

looking at the snapshot, the 20% GLD weightage in our 36% portfolio managed to cushion the drop yesterday.

that said tho i am still a gold hater, haha! GLD is an awesome asset to hold now when the economy is so unsure of itself. but once this all blows over, GLD will just go back to being stagnant and other EQ will begin to rise at a higher rate.

however, maybe it makes sense for a dynamic model like STASHAWAY to hold GLD right now. later when the economy recovers, STASHAWAY would pandai pandai switch back to full EQ portfolio. so we're kinda depending on their system to time the market.

That's the power of diversification. Haha. SA really picked a good mix of assets that helped balance one another.

Well, too bad for them.
I view it as a start up able to coop this very professional d.
They able to transact back to customer within 24 hours is quite an impressive thing.

Agreed with you. I don't deny that this fiasco has inconvenienced many. But to then say that you wanna withdraw all your investment from SA, I think it's a bit too much la (my two cents). After all, in Malaysia, we're not blessed with many options for this sort of investment vehicle for retail investors compared to the US, so SA is really a godsend.

maybe this can help soothes your anxiety?
Smart investors know that stock market crashes are a part of life. But predicting when they'll happen just isn't something people are very good at.

You don't need to be able to predict market crashes in order to be a good investor.
In fact, Warren Buffett, arguably one of the world's best investors, said: "The years ahead will occasionally deliver major market declines -- even panics -- that will affect virtually all stocks.
No one can tell you when these traumas will occur."

But Buffett also knows you don't need to be able to anticipate when a downturn will happen in order to make money: "Predicting rain doesn't count, building the ark does."

If you build your ark by following sound investing principles, crashes shouldn't phase you because you can count on your investments performing well over the long term. So don't worry if you can't predict them: You don't need to in order for your finances to survive as strong as ever.

For those who are upset about mild dips like last night, you guys probably have not been through the March drop. Once you experienced that, all these other mild dips won't even affect you.

With regards to the current subject, many noted that he is a certified financial advisor. However, in looking for a proper financial advisor, one should always make sure that person is a fiduciary. Fiduciaries are legally obliged to put their clients' interest first.
Non fiduciaries may claim they're independent, but most likely they have vested interest in their clients buying from certain securities, etc. And that is a huge conflict of interest.

I usually only take the advise of fiduciaries.
One great resource is Money Guy (check out their YouTube channel.). They're certified fiduciaries, fee only financial advisors, not affiliated to any investment company.

The problem with some of you guys who say "I'm gonna sit it out for now, wait for the dip then pump in", is this : hindsight is 20/20. How many of you can say with absolute certainty where the bottom is? Meanwhile while you wait, you may have missed out on the best trading days. Not to mention with SA, you get a delay between your deposit timing vs actual buy in timing.

Conclusion, just DCA and ignore the market noise.

Time in the market beats timing the market. If you really believed this, put your money where your mouth is and stay the course.

Over the long run, it doesn't matter if you buy in at the dips or at the tippity top of the market.

Thanks to the power of DCA, I'm still up about 6% YTD. Feb's massive gains wiped out though..
