Hi,
For parents with baby(ies) or kids, how do you all find time to prepare healthy food for the family? Do you have methods/techniques to share?
Thanks in advance for your contributions here.

Not here to talk bad about outside food..

The first thing to do is to plan your meals and be realistic with what you can and cannot do.

I am a working mom and also cooking daily dinner (weekday is a must as my kid schooling and have tons of homework to do, hence no way to eat out). Used to be very stress rushing to get the dinner serve on-time, as we don't want the kids to eat late.

Asian food is the most time consuming to prepare especially chinese dishes where normally a practices of minimum 1 vege dish (stir fry), 1 meat (marinated needed) and 1 soup (chinese style need time). And it is less healthy actually with oil, salt, cornstarch, oyster sauce, soy sauce.. hardly off the recipe.

Recent few years, after study some healthy eating guides. I switch to prepare Western, Japanese or sometimes soup noodle.
Western - steak/chicken chop/fish fillet very easy to prepare and is just salt & black pepper and whatever herbs you fancy. Go for grill. Then supplement with homemake wedges (marinate potato with olive oil & paprika powder) fry using air-fryer. Top with either simple mayo mix bean or broil vege. I have alot of spice and herbs at home for this.
Japanese - get a recipe book and you will notice their cook preparation pretty simple and fast. Sort of 1 pot solve it all. But for my family, I do the serving nicely so that they won't start thinking it like chinese meal with just 1 dish tongue.gif
Noodle soup - simply get a salmon fish head.. It takes just a while to boil the soup and all the aroma and sweetness is there. Then have your beehoon ready.. put some meat and vege.. solved.

Some other fast and easy food:
- Pasta (use real meat, dun use sausage or hotdog)
- bak kut teh / chic kut teh
- chicken mushroom (with sauce) on noodle
* as long as there is meat, vege and carbo.. consider balance meal.

Another important point is you need to have the right kitchen gadget. Such as fryer, oven, easy cooker, pressure cooker, etc.. equipment that you think can help you to do stuff without the need for you to stand infront of your stove for monitoring.

I actually make my own bread too (bread machine, ok). Sometimes make waffle and donut.. all rely on the kitchen gadget only. If you really wanna to be totally healthy.. make your own pasta.. but I am not to that extend yet as the noodle machine too pricey hahahaha. Of coz don't expect me to make it with my bare hand.. Cooking not really my hobby but is already a practice as eating out waste time. We only have barely 3 hours (7pm-10pm) to make sure the kid have dinner and done with his school homework. His sleep time at 10pm.
