vietnam wages is very bad. my engineer friend who worked there says with 5 years experience he's only getting around 2k Ringgit after conversion. And he's with MNC. He plan to move to HCM first and then hop to SG if possible.

Most of the normal workers earn USD 150-250 per month , especially if you are doing unskilled job like bank clerk / helpdesk . So if you imagine they move to Malaysia and even if they earning 3k-4k MYR per month is already a huge jump in finances.
*
Not true, if only RM2k after conversion y go to Vietnam in the 1st place?
Salary for locals are really low, that's right. But for expat, it's not bad

correct. I was justifying the sex trade in Vietnam because of the currency disparity (and payscale disparity) between locals and expats.
*
ah, u mean the RM2k conversion is for the local engineer? that should be about right. My bad.

I understood it as your engineer who's from Malaysia is earning RM2k here. How dumb of me.

I cant say much of other parts but I can say HCM is NOT cheap......

Cools things to buy are motorbike helmet but dont think u can use it in Malaysia.

Also they do accept MYR.
*
Depends. If you are staying a bit outskirt, it's cheap.
Shopping is more expensive. Accommodation is more expensive. Food is cheap. Transportation is cheap.
If you talk about District 1, it's all expensive. It's like KLCC/Bukit Bintang, they know foreigner visit these place. Sure cut throat.
Things are 1/3 or 1/2 of the price of things in D1

Yes accommodation is expensive
Shopping is expensive
Err contrary I find transport is also expensive. Not sure if u take the grab bike though
Food also expensive to me. One pho around rm8 to rm14 depending where u eat..but i was told, it's really cheapnif you dare to eat their local food. I couldn't stomach it.

Yes most of the time I was in district 1.

Been there like 10 times for the past 1-2 years

Ciplak good quality deuter bag rm 18 or 100000 dong.

But some of their tour is freaking cheap. I think 20 dollar for one day trip including lunch to Mekong delta.
*
yeah, i eat local food. 20k per meal, that's like RM3.50.

Transport on GrabBike. If you are on Taxi, of course it's a different story....

Tumpang tanya ... If holiday kat HCMC, is there an atmospheric old quarter area to look out for, accomodation-wise ? Like when I go to Phuket, I like to stay in Phuket Old Town in the oldie worldie Memory On-on hotel.
*
Usually tourist stays at District 1. Cos most locals there can speak English. Once you go out....it's sign language. Hahaha

Just went to HCM back on June, visit lots of convenience store and super market, the price after conversion not much different with us, semua salahan Nobita

actually, buying stuff here is more expensive than Malaysia. Like clothing, electronics etc. Due to higher tax in Vietnam.
street food, is cheaper than malaysia.
