They will stop production when the planned time come. Intel proccessor has 3 years warranty so stop production won't affect the warranty period, only product (like RAM) has life-time warranty is depended on production viable. the discontinue thing is just mean no more produce for sale only??
Got sale or not depends on shop, it might still around for some time even intel stop producing it until shops clear up their stock.
They rather discontinue the product rather than selling it cheap-> quite smart move in term of business wise apart from the technology improvement needed.
