Hi forumers,

Im planning to do my annual checkup and maybe get a new eyeglasses. Feel like going for rimless this time since i had always went for the full rim previously. Here's my question:

1) at what power(not sure if im using the correct term) would the lens be too thick and heavy for a rimless frame?

2) can i just buy a random cheap frame online and pay the optimetris for the lens? I can see quite a lot of cheap frame in lazada and shopee.

3) can a rimless frame lens have the blue light protector+the auto dim under sunlight+scratch resistance coating?

Thanks in advance for any helpful reply.

I used lots type of prescription eyeglass:

Q1. It doesn't matters..thicker means beefier/durable.

Q2. Not recomended. Some frame may affect lens warranty during assembly.

Q3. Can.

I did wear rimless glasses before, it put too much stresses on the lens outer edges that holds the ear piece because the lens itself becomes the frame that carry the load. So i cracked the outer side of the lens near the ear piece holder after one month unless you're careful using it.

Wont recommend it because u are so used to full rim, there will be lot of light reflection on rimless as light enters the lens edge more. If you have high astigmatism then it will be much worse. Dont get cheap frame, wasting money because no warranty and they crack damn fast. You waste the lens too if frame cant be replaced.

If you decide to buy cheap rim, by 2. So when it cracks/breaks, you just transfer the lense to the backup. Problem is, you're stuck with the same style for a while.
I used to do this with my kid's glases.
