I'll address your first issue. Since you do like maths but at the same time, need a career path that would satisfy your mother in terms of prospect and salary - i would recommend that you consider Actuarial Science. Do go around asking about what it is and what it entails. First find out what programme you want to do and then find out which is the best university to offer it. Don't do it the other way round.
