Not sure if this is the right subforum but I've got a few questions...

I will be traveling to Indonesia next month and i plan to bring my drone over (Mavic Air).

1) Will KLIA checkpoint be suspicious about my drone when passing through (not checking in, hand carry item)

2) Indonesia checkpoint?

I've checked their local regulations about drone there but im not sure about their customs.

Thanks

Drone is not prohibited for import, at least for few countries I've been to (Spain, HK, Japan, Thailand). It's the flying restriction that you may need to pay attention. As long as batteries are removed and carried on. You should clear the airport fine.

You may not be allowed to fly in private resorts, places of worship, cities etc. Some may ask you for money to fly it, common in Indonesia.

Hello ..

Drone as a TOY .. you are allowed to bring with you ... travelling overseas .. but avoid sensitive country like .. UAE , Afghan ... IRAN IRAQ north korea ...

but to fly it on a open sky ,, you may violated the local Law ...

unless you are flying it openly in a remote area ... with very low density of population ...

Advisable to do so and hand carry the battery.

Hi, I have brought my mavic air to Jogja before. I brought 2 batteries, one in the mavic, one more in the mavic air bag on my carry on backpack. They did not check anything so should be fine.

Based on my past experiences travelling with a drone to few countries, carrying the drone into the flight and past the security check is not a problem, the real problem is to fly the drone itself in another countries. My advice is to avoid flying at the crowded/famous area at any cost. Trust me, I got busted 2 times by the local police, one in Phuket and the recent one in Delhi.

DJI software will let you know where you can fly, they have Geo Fencing.

I used the DJI Spark in Taiwan before, in Taipei city.

In some areas I flew it with no issue, in others when I want to fly the software informed me that it's a no fly zone, I could take off at most but not fly. Police were watching me that time, gave me a fright. LOL thought I committed some offense.

I was photographing the drone in hover only. tongue.gif

Lithium batteries are a fire hazard, all airlines recommend that you remove the batteries before boarding

Flown a drone few times there, no issues at all but a lot of tourist areas there are now no-fly zones for drones

Keep in mind the drone laws there and you'll be fine smile.gif
