my dad bought a samsung camcorder and used it for like 1 yaer and gone case...warranty also seems useless....
but for monitors, so far no bad experience yet, using 2 samsung monitor here for 2-3 years and seems fine so far....
and for your case, TS, i suggest u get 1 new 17" LCD, quite cheap nowadays, RM500+ got liao...
17" LCD RM500?
Used ones?
New ones surely >1K.

it depends... i repaired tons of CRT monitors which cost RM50 on average... it depends on wat's the damage... in some cases it might be juz the VGA cable... and yeah im using 753DFX as well... got it from customer who want to change to LCD...

i love flat screen CRT...
NEC monitors are 2 heavy for me la... for office ok la... for home have to consider the strength of the table...
Samsung r famous for their monitors, TV's n RAM chip...

other product i not so confident...

esp their HP and optical drives...

You repair?
Someone did told me that my CRT tube that was used for the red color has worn out.
Need to change to a new one.
I love CRT flat screen too.
My bro said that games with high graphics looks

on flat CRT compare to LCD.
My other friend told me...better don't repair since it would only last a week.
Then same old story again.
My sis bought Samsung cellphone...1 year kaputt already

i have a monitor same model as yours...
i think as of today, the monitor is at least 5+ yrs old already... becuase i use it back at university days...and now i work 4 1/2 years already...
so definitely is around at least 5 yrs...
and the monitor is still in superb excellent condition... hardly notice it degrades...
so i guess it's your luck... i've known a few of my friends using samsung 17in monitor without any problem at all also...
or probably you turn on your monitor all the time? hence stressing the monitor more?
I only shut down my PC.
The ON/OFF button on the monitor...I never pushed it.
Long story short, I just shut down my PC...OFF the plug socket..that's it.
Could that be the cause of reliability?

Btw, what do you think is the problem here, mind sharing why the monitor loses it's ability to show red?
I see red as black.
Red color is gone.
CRT tube for the red has worn out I think.
