Hi guys, facing some problems right here. Was playing GTA online yesterday, then powered off after 2 hours of usage. Soon after that, just remember have to email smth, then i powered my selenite on again. However, my laptop screen started flashing like crazy non-stop. it only resolved when i reduced my screen brightness to minimum. The flashing worsen with increasing brightness. When it is not plugged in, it will flash even with minimum screen brightness. What's the problem guys? Pls help, thanksss cry.gif  cry.gif

Your motherboard chipset is faulty. It's a common problem on all 8th gen Selenite, sooner or later will have this problem.

Need to send for replacement motherboard with 9th gen i7 CPU, otherwise it will only fail again.

I haven't seen a single swollen battery in any of the Lenovo, Dell, Asus, Acer, MSI and HP laptops which my friends and family are using. 3 of them are >6 years old too.

Maybe you are referring to the older laptops a couple of years ago when they use lithium ion batteries, those hardly ever become bloated but will eventually become weak over time. I do a lot of laptop servicing and repairs, and I can tell you I have seen plenty of bloated batteries in Alienware, Dell, HP, MSI and Asus ROG laptops. It affects all brands, and it is not something that is particular to one company/brand.

As long as it is a lithium polymer battery, there is a chance it will become bloated from degradation of the battery cell. Doesn't matter which manufacturer made it. Especially if abused under heavy use or kept at 100% charge all the time. Batteries are happiest when they are kept around 50%, not full or empty.

I believe all the major brands only have 1 year warranty for their batteries, since they do degrade over time. I know Dell, HP, and Lenovo all have the same 1 year policy.

You should have a read up on this issue, HP has written documentation on the subject here - https://support.hp.com/my-en/document/c05640567

If you are lucky enough to still be under warranty within the 1 year period, then just send in to their service center for the battery replacement

They were notified of the swollen battery issues as it happened in under 10 months.

Then you should send in to them for the warranty claim, I am sure they will replace the battery since it is within warranty period. Any other brand/company would do the same.

EDIT: Just noticed you are from India. Pretty sure they can't help you since you are in another country, and batteries cannot be shipped overseas.
