Anybody experiencing crackling coming from their speakers it seems to come at random only. I can't replicate the crackling by replaying the same clip so I'm really stumped as to why it's crackling.

Not only that I tried uninstalling the Sound Blaster Connect App and reinstalling it only to find that it now doesn't work at all. The volume icon is muted and I can't seem to unmute it.

Haih, this is already my second Selenite my first unit had a messed up touchpad so a replacement was done now my speakers on the second unit are screwed up pulak. In addition to that, I even encountered a BSOD VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR. Haven't even owned the laptop for a whole week already encountered so many issues.

The performance is amazing and the design doesn't stand out too much when compared to your average laptop so it blends in well. I really love this laptop but all these small issues are really pilling up and making the experience a pretty sour one.

So if any sifu's could give me any advice that'd be great.

Experienced the crackling sound twice, but just very briefly. It seems like it happened while I quit some application, but I don't know for sure and can't recreate it.

I guess I just ignore and live with it  biggrin.gif

The problem with my crackling is that it happens during audio and video playback. I use my speakers about 90% of the time I'm using the laptop so I really can't just ignore the crackling noises. The speakers have already been replaced and yet the issue still persists. Already reinstalled the Realtek drivers, Sound Connect App even went as far to change the sample rate and the bit depth but alas the issue still persists. Having run out of options I'm getting seriously desperate now.

I have not experienced this so far during gaming or video playing with my selenite, but I am a relatively new user. I have experienced this crackling sound with my desktop speaker before with subwoofer, if I turn off the AC power before turning off the speaker, probably due to the subwoofer discharging its driver and causes vibration.

For your case, I think if speaker is not the issue, perhaps it could be due to the speaker driver on the motherboard itself?
*
Don't really wanna risk taking it apart, I'm gonna just bring it back to them to see how it plays out. Hopefully, a solution will be found.

I have the same issue with crackling sound it came out randomly, if you turn down the sub woofer it will be fine, i guess something to do with sub woofer.
*
Do you know how I can turn the subwoofer down?

Sry what I really mean to say is that anywhere near the max volume the crackling sound will occurred. In my case it usually happen during opening a YouTube video or switching/opening a music. It doesnt happen often but you do notice it.

Anyway I tried to update realtek audio driver to see if there any improvement but after update my creative soundblaster app couldn't detect my driver, so make sure you dont update it haha sweat.gif

Update: The crackling sound now happen at any volume, really noticable when opening youtube video or playing music laugh.gif

Welcome to my hell sad.gif Had to RMA my selenite again because I really just couldn't tahan the crackling happening so frequently. Haih really sucks to see another person experiencing the same issues as me, really thought I was an isolated case.

I don't wanna jinx myself by saying this but I may have fixed the issue or at least minimized the crackling to a point where I really don't notice it. What I did was downgrade my Realtek High Definition Audio Driver to version 6.0.1.8186, the driver's I used before was 6.0.1.8619. Before downgrading the driver my crackling was really bad happening almost constantly.

But with all this talk about Nvidia also causing crackling it may even be the Geforce Experience driver which was recently released on the 25th.

I have a feeling that the crackling still hasn't disappeared but maybe you guys could give downgrading the driver a go to see if it helps.

which driver? Realtek or nvidia?

I updated both so I can't really tell you which one made the crackling stop, I suppose you could just try updating both.

Would still prefer an official solution from Illegear. Laptop cost RM7k, want the problem 100% solved instead of just very minimal cracking sound.
*
Obviously, we all do but this is just a temporary fix rather than having to live with the crackle constantly.

Dear all, kindly note that we have received an official update for the Creative audio extension and the crackling issue has been resolved as per testing by the manufacturer & our technical team 😊 Please be advised that the official driver update is included as a part for the Windows May 2019 update. Let us know if the issue still persisted on your end. Thank you very much.

Got so excited and immediately went to check my windows update and to my surprise, there was an update forrrrrrrrrrr the Windows Defender Antivirus pulak. bangwall.gif

Anybody here experiencing a high level of battery wear? Does Aida64 give an accurate representation of battery wear because it says that my current fully charged capacity is only at 36480 mWh whilst the designed capacity is 46740 mWh.

If Aida64's wear indicator is correct then that means in just 2 months I've lost 10,260 mWh. Thats pretty worrying.

Hi all,

Is anyone experiencing chassis wobble on tables ? mine seem to wobble when I open the lid, specifically, on the left hand rest.
*
Yup noticed that when I first got the laptop and when I brought it back, I was told that the other laptops have the same wobble as well and that it was just a manufacturing defect. I've noticed that also depending on how you put it on your table there could be more chassis wobble than normal. I think that any chassis wobble at all is unacceptable but I'm not really expecting them to recall laptops because of this issue.

Hi,

Did you try out on a few tables or only one ? I did a few tests myself, I notice that tables that has small imperfections ( Ie : the surface is warped slightly etc ) is the reason why the Selenite seems to wobble. Because for my case, my house's table is fine, since it's glass table, but my office table it wobbles, because it's wood and when I observe the surface of the table, it's warped ( office table has a slight ,very slight, curve )

I think the Selenite is a good benchmark to make sure your table is properly surface leveled.

Do try it out and let me know.
*
I've tried it on multiple tables on my campus and in my house, sometimes it wobbles and other times it doesn't. Some times when it starts to wobble a little I just pick the laptop up and place it back down again, magically it will stop wobbling. I've given up trying to see if it was the chassis that was warped or the table and will just do my "fix" to get rid of the wobble. Although for the past 2 weeks I have not noticed any wobbling at all. Could be all just in my head.

The wobbling is on which side ? mine is on the left palm rest, I put a piece of 1-time-folded A4, under the rubber feet, it's fine...but the table beside mine, has no wobble at all. It's so mind-effing.
*
Mine is on the bottom right. The wobble is pretty noticeable at times too, every time I pick my hand up from the palm rest the entire laptop will shift. But like I said before picking it up and putting it back down again seems to fix it. Haven't tried to see if it's the feet yet, I thought it was initially but they look all equally set in.

Hi mynameisnotryan,

Can I check your machine physically?
*
The issues really doesn't warrant a visit but if I have any other issues with the laptop which warrants a visit then I'll bring up the wobbling issue as well. But like I said before it hasn't happened in a while already so I don't really care too much.

QUOTE(SawItComin @ Jun 25 2019, 11:50 AM)
Alright, I did found out something yesterday, my laptop is no longer wobbling now even on my work desk, it has something to do with the tightness of the screws on the bottom lid.

Do try it out, see if it helps, unscrew the screws a little, and see if it wobbles. It fixed mine, hopefully can fix yours.
*
I'll try that later on but the wobbling hasn't happened in a while already so maybe the laptop magically fixed itself or I just haven't noticed it recently. Either way thanks for the advice. thumbsup.gif

Hey guys, can I know how long does the battery last on your selenite. I noticed mine lasted 1.5 hour the most on battery saver mode.
*
Yea that's roughly the same battery time I'm getting right now. Maybe just a little longer than 1.5 hours. Doing a Windows battery report shows that my current full charge capacity is only 28,500 mWh when the design capacity is at 46,740 mWh. Quite a steep drop for a 5 month old laptop.

just a quick survey here, who is having crackling sound issue right now?
*
Shockingly I haven't heard even 1 crackle in the past few months knock on wood after all the issues in the beginning, it's actually gotten much better. The only issue I have now is that when no audio is playing from the speakers I can hear a slight buzzing noise but it's so faint that you really don't even notice it unless you're actively trying to hear it.

Annnnnnnnnd one more issue after another week of usage.

Owning a Seagate SSHD 5 years ago, checking on Acronis Disk Monitor it says there's some end-to-end transfer error, giving a sign that the hdd could fail. Sometimes it comes out some weird noise, and when i install it into the laptop, the temperature could reach more than 50 degrees Celsius when gaming, loading the files from it. When i install a game to the hdd the task manager shows it loads 100% fully, super long response time, then it just not working, no files transfer. OS could hang and disk management won't see the existence of the hdd, so i have to restart the laptop and it'll become fine again despite still high hdd temp.

Okay, thought that it has served me long, then i decided to buy another sshd and install into it. Just not more than 15 mins it boot up and start copying the files from external to the new sshd, the issue arise again.

Come on, don't tell me the new sshd has problem like the old one????  mad.gif  bangwall.gif  vmad.gif  ranting.gif

The old one i put it into external hdd controller, now it still works like a charm, heat reduced although still has some noise sometimes.  sweat.gif

What is happening to the laptop actually? I want to dedicated support as soon as possible guiding me to install the hdd properly remotely, assuming i DID it wrong. There's a flex cable beneath the hdd location, perhaps it's the cause? I don't know.  shakehead.gif

I know this laptop is not the most expensive but then 7k is considered bangsawan price for many people already, and the quality just like this?
*
I can say with utmost certainty that it's the SSHD at fault here. I think at this point I've replaced the SSHD 3 times at least and I've only been using this laptop for a year and 3 months. Hell one time the drive failed after just 2 months I think. Seagate's SSHD's are the worst drive's I've ever encountered and that comes from somebody who has 12 TB in external WD drives (some have failed obviously but not to the extent of having had 3 replacements). The second time the drive failed it still operated like normal I could access all the files but transferring them out was impossible and it was impossible to put any files into the drive.
