How can be good without OIS in low light? Xiaomi always lets me down on Mi series. Mix series is much better.

Vanilla Mi 9 simply just means stock Mi 9 without Battle Angel branding. Not stock Android.

There is no hardware optical image stabilizer. Software only.

But gsmarena low light studio sample suggests otherwise. It's trounced by Honor View 20.

No wonder it opts for high ISO high shutter speed.

Wonder why they removed OIS from this flagship line? Mi 8, Mi 6, Mi 5 has OIS. Is it because of the sensor? Mate 20 pro 40mp sensor doesn't have OIS too.. But at least the telephoto lens have OIS.

I think view 20 has the best camera even compared to the mate 20 pro. When I pixel peep for image quality on GSMarena test, I always look at the US dollar and Canadian dollar text. Clearly view 20 shows a great details on those text where mate 20 even hardly able to read.

Mi 9 wasn't good as well even compared it to Mi 8. Check it out.

worst than mix 3 and mi 8..

GSMarena comparison View 20 VS Mix 3 VS Mi 9

View 20 VS Mate 20 Pro VS Mi 9

View 20 VS Mi 8 VS Mi 9

Yup I saw it as well. I don't know how accurate is gsmarena's test but I noticed the U11+, Sony XZ2, XZ3 and View 20 have the best IQ if pixel peeping. U12 on the other hand was blurry. confused.gif

For native resolution, the Sony XZ3's 19MP resolves the most details. Can even read the small fonts of railway station stops and the fabric surface of clothes. But in reality it doesn't resolve as much because the lens is slightly wider than other cams.

But on the test, you can see the corner are sharp too for Mi 9. Take a look at the stitches of the horse/donkey.

I guess we shall not pixel peep and see the overall photo.

In good light, yes. Mi 9 seems to have a great lense. Most lens tends to be soft at edges.

But the real challenge is in the low light test. Mi 9's lack of OIS is really at major disadvantages. It opts for ISO 4000+ instead of below ISO 1000, resulting in very noise outputs.

If want to pixel peep, should choose multiple regions.
