I also thinking to ask this question.
If I rarely open aircond, it is worth to buy an inverter aircond?

I use Carrier, Toshiba, Samsung, Panasonic, LG

Personal experience with the brands ;

Career - Lasted quite long (10+ yr) without issue even after 'rested' for a year and reinstalled at other house
Toshiba - last very looooooong. 15th years and still working till now.
Samsung (3 yrs) - Compressor repaired after a year (warranty). Suffer cooling problem a couple of times after that
Panasonic (2 years) - So far so good. No issue yet
LG (2 years) - I dont like the flap design, cool air is pushed upwards instead of downward like other brand. Didn't notice this when buying. Noticed only after installation. This week got problem cooling. Air very worm coming out from it. Suspected big issue. Need to call the technician to fix in the weekend.

If i buy my next unit, i'll go for Panasonic since Toshiba is hard to find these days.
