- Apparently there's news of a MGS Game for the 360. May or may not be the 4th Installment.

From an E3 Floor Manager supposedly.

Nope , it just changed its pattern . Rather than allowing mass public to participate , the E3 now is only for authorized media , IIRC .

None-the-less , I assume we'll get the news however through the participating game sites wink.gif .

actually, E3 is in a way better now. Its more focused, more concentrated and it gives the media more information than ever.

The last few E3s have gone on to become a fireworks showcase. Who can have the biggest booth, who has the prettiest girls..it wasn't about the games anymore..

but....Rare to showcase Banjo Kazooie 3! woohoo finallyyyyy..

No Gears Sequel at E3
QUOTE
"We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year. Did you see the update we just did for Gears of War last week? We're still working on the first one," said Epic's Mark Rein:

Aiks...anyway, i just hope there are more new IP. New IP are always interesting....

There are alot more Rare IPs waiting to be explore, don't think we gona see PDZ sequel anytime soon. (my guess)

Gametrailers.com bonus round - what Microsoft has in store for E3 this year.

Listen to the black guy, he got a point.
Did Microsoft cater too much to the hardcore group? Although they are trying to push the casual market but it's still not enough.
The first thing they should do is cut down the price of XBLA. No casual would pay for a game at that price!

[RUMOR] - Rock Band Exclusive to Xbox 360?

Halo Wars Demo Ready for E3
QUOTE
We've been working towards a mini-milestone of sorts, called the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). The good news for Halo Wars fans who have been hanging in there waiting for more information and or images from the game is that we will be showing a small demo of the game for select members of the press at E3. The team here at Ensemble Studios has been at work on preparing the demo for the last couple of weeks and it has come together nicely. It just shows a small slice of our game off to give the press an idea of what we're all about.

Thanks to E3, we will likely see some first impression articles about the game appearing on the web or in magazines in the days and weeks to follow. This is also about the time that we'll be going live with a new version of our Halo Wars website, which will largely just be a visual change, but reflect some of the new stuff revealed at E3.

E3! E3! E3!

hmm a fourth xbox 360 SKU has been spotted at the E3 convention. It has a blacker colour as compared to the Elite Model.

QUOTE
Gamerscore blog has been hanging around the Microsoft guys while they set up for their big Press Conference tonight, and they may have made an intriguing discovery. The snapped some photos of the stage setup, and there appear to be four different types of 360 SKUs on display. From the pics posted on their Flickr, we can see the Core, Premium (Pro), and Elite models, and the fourth has a black finish which looks much darker than the elite. Perhaps a shiny finish?

Could we see a super 360 coming out to replace the Elite's price range, as the Elite drops to $400? Maybe one with HDMI 1.3, more USB ports, an internal HD DVD drive?

Who knows? We will find out tonight when the press conference begins!

Xbox E3 briefing day (and how you can watch or listen to it)
QUOTE
I have a dedicated high speed line, a nice clean audio feed of the board and a complete workspace to watch all of the action. They are just finishing up rehearsals now, but I wanted to make sure to remind you how you can watch (or listen to) the briefing:

    * If you have G4 TV on your Cable or Satellite provider you can watch the entire briefing (and the pre-show) tonight starting at 9p ET/6p PT (check here to see if G4 is available in your area.)
    * Watch the live Webcast on Xbox.com. The webcast links will go live shortly before the briefing starts at 11:30p ET/8:30p PT.
    * If you miss anything, we'll have a highlight video posted tomorrow morning as part of Xbox.com's complete E3 coverage.
    * Later on in the week, you'll be able to download a Hi Def version from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
    * Finally, as soon as I can get the complete briefing audio encoded and uploaded to my server, I'll add into my iTunes, MP3 and WMA feeds.

Since I am parked backstage (right behind the huge HD rear projection screen) recording the briefing, I'll be live blogging what is happening directly to my Twitter stream. It's much easier to rapidly update Twitter instead of making new posts on the blog every couple of minutes.

P.S. Look for me on G4 TV tonight around 10:30p ET/7:30p PT. They want me to drop by and chat with them about the 'new' e3.

first piece of hard news: from New York Time

= cars and pirates XBox live biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
= Resident Evil on Xbox 360 biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Microsoft Plays Up Family Appeal of Xbox

Opening the annual E3 game conference here, Microsoft executives announced a deal to distribute films from the Walt Disney Company on Microsoft's Xbox Live Internet service and outlined a broader array of games focused mostly on children and families.

Executives predicted that the company's recently announced plan to spend up to $1.15 billion to fix defective Xbox 360 game machine would improve, not undermine, the system's image with consumers.

"The important impact for us is that our customers know we're going to support the console and support them and if they have issues, we'll take care of it," said Robert J. Bach, president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices division, in an interview. "It won't change what's happening in the marketplace because the industry is about the games and we think we have the games that will get people really excited this year."

As the game industry's growth has slowed in recent years, game developers have tried to reach beyond the young male players who have been the target audience.

"We believe we have the best game lineup in video-game history for the holiday season," said Mr. Bach. "You can look top to bottom and we think we have the goods to please any type of gamer."

Part of Microsoft's strategy has been to position the Xbox 360 as a living room media hub and an essential element of that plan has been allowing users to download films and television shows to the machine. Adding Disney to the roster of companies distributing movies and video programming over the Xbox Live service should help broaden the appeal of the game system to families with children.

The same could be said of the new games Microsoft announced here, including a new installment of the company's Viva Pinata game and a version of the Scene It? board game. Scene It? will come with a new controller for the Xbox 360 with large buttons and a simple layout that game novices, intimidated by a traditional game controller, may find easier to use

"Part of our strategy is we want to win this generation and in order to do that we have to expand beyond the core gamer audience that we've had success with and that means appealing to the broad consumer market," said Shane Kim, general manager of Microsoft Game Studios.

The company also said it was developing a keyboard for the Xbox 360 controller. Currently, Xbox Live users send text messages using an on-screen keyboard. The company recently announced plans to integrate the popular Windows Live Messenger service with Xbox Live.

But even as Microsoft hopes to appeal to new sorts of users, the company wants to avoid neglecting the serious player. So Microsoft also said that the next version of the popular Resident Evil series from Capcom of Japan would also be designed to run on the Xbox 360.

In the past, Resident Evil games have run only on Nintendo and Sony consoles. Persuading Capcom to develop games for the Xbox 360 underlines the success Microsoft has had recently in attracting Japanese developers who had shied away from the American console.

Spotlight now on PGR4 - out in Sept. Absolutely gorgeous. Motorcycle nite racing on wet road demo was just sweet.

Gears of Wars headed to Windows. New content, new single player mission, gameplay mode, game editor, extras etc.

CoD4! drool.gif i wet my pants on this one. http://www.charlieoscardelta.com is down at this time right after they announced the multiplayer beta.

Microsoft definite let the software do the talking this time. the line up is amazing.

The Best Place to Play the Most Exclusives and Biggest Blockbuster Games of 2007

Xbox 360 is a great place to play the next chapters of "Grand Theft Auto," "Madden," and "Halo" - the best-selling franchises of the last generation. In fact, "Halo 3," "Grand Theft Auto IV" and "Madden NFL 08" are expected to account for one-third of all console new release sales in the U.S. during the second half of the year, according to a recent report by IGN Entertainment's GamerMetrics. Xbox 360 has an unprecedented lineup of blockbuster titles available by holiday 2007, including these:

# "Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation" (NAMCO BANDAI Games). "Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation" takes players up to the sky and into the heat of realistic air combat with next-generation audio and visual effects and online multiplayer action.* Available this holiday, only on Xbox 360.
# "Assassin's Creed" (Ubisoft). "Assassin's Creed" is the next-generation game developed by Ubisoft that merges technology, game design, theme and emotions into a world where players will assume the role of the main character, Altair, and will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and experience the art of a master assassin. Available this November.
# "Beautiful Katamari" (NAMCO BANDAI Games). Marking the debut of Namco's beloved ball-rolling puzzle game on a next-generation platform, "Beautiful Katamari," the fourth installment of the "Katamari" series, features levels of quirkiness, cosmic animations and musical stylings never seen before. Available this October.
# "BioShock" (2K Games). "BioShock" is the "genetically enhanced" first-person shooter set in the ruined undersea metropolis of Rapture. Available this August, only on Xbox 360 and Windows.
# "Blue Dragon" (Mistwalker/Artoon Co. Ltd.). From famed game producer Hironobu Sakaguchi comes "Blue Dragon," a unique, epic role-playing game. Available Aug. 28, only on Xbox 360.
# "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" (Activision). The new action thriller from the award-winning team at Infinity Ward Inc., "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" delivers the most intense and cinematic action experience ever. The epic title also delivers an added depth of multiplayer action providing online fans an all-new community of persistence, addictive and customizable gameplay. Available this fall.
# "Dance Dance Revolution UNIVERSE 2" (Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.). The series' encore performance on Xbox 360 delivers new gameplay options along with a mix of songs from the 1970s, '80s, '90s and today as well as online play, downloadable music, enhanced graphics and accessibility for players of all ages.
# "Grand Theft Auto IV" (Rockstar Games). "Grand Theft Auto IV" is the next chapter of the award-winning "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, available Oct.16. "Grand Theft Auto IV" will feature episodic content through Xbox LIVE exclusive to Xbox 360.
# "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" (RedOctane/Activision). Fire up the fret board, crank up the amp and get ready to rock out on the new wireless Les Paul guitar controllers. "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock" includes star-studded tracks by such legendary artists as Guns N' Roses, The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Muse and Pearl Jam. Available this fall.

# "Madden NFL 08" (Electronic Arts Inc.). EA's unstoppable football franchise returns for the '08 season in Hall of Fame fashion, featuring new players, modes, rosters and rewards to create the ultimate touchdown for pigskin fans. Available this August.
# "Mass Effect" (BioWare Corp.). An epic science-fiction action and role-playing game, "Mass Effect" will deliver an immersive, story-driven experience presented in a cinematic style with high production values. Available this holiday season, only on Xbox 360.
# "Naruto: Rise of a Ninja" (Ubisoft). Relive the hit anime and manga and experience Naruto's transformation from noisy ninja-academy dropout to respected ninja. Available in October, only on Xbox 360.
# "Project Gotham Racing 4" (Bizarre Creations Ltd.). "Project Gotham Racing 4" will redefine the acclaimed "PGR" franchise by delivering a unique, exciting racing experience complete with motorcycles and cars. Available this September, only on Xbox 360.

# "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction" (Ubisoft). In the latest installment of Tom Clancy's coveted "Splinter Cell" franchise, players will experience an adrenaline rush of gameplay where hunted down as a fugitive, you have no choice other than using everything in your environment to survive. Available this holiday.
# "Virtua Fighter 5" (SEGA). This new installment in the critically acclaimed series brings intense, arcade fighting action, an all-star cast of 17 fighters and, a next-generation first for the franchise, online two-player versus mode only on Xbox LIVE.

Not very exciting MS conference because nothing new or surprising, but doesn't mean it suck.
It's like Microsoft to customer "Guys, this Holiday we got this, this, this & this game...go get 'em boiz!"

Solid conference i guess. Halo 3 Halo 3 Halo 3!

The Halo 3 short film by director Neill Blomkamp kinda give me the goose bump though. tongue.gif

Highlight of the show.

Some highlights:
* Briefing starts with lots of marketing stuff like marketshare, high attach rate, online purchases, live members (over 7 millions now) etc ... I'll pass.
* Only the xbox360 will have all 3 of biggest titles this holiday season (GTA IV, Madden 08 and Halo 3).
* New controller sold with game called 'Scene it' (based on the boardgame). Buzz-style button on the top, and the face buttons positioned in a line below.
* Sonic the Hedgehog and Golden Axe now available on XBLA.
* Microsoft will distribute Disney movies on marketplace in HD, starting tonight.
* By end of the year, video marketplace available in Canada and Europe too.
* Xbox 360 Elite coming to Europe on August 24th 2007.
* PGR4 demo shown, now also bikes. Coming in September. Also new demo of Lost Odyssey, also coming this year ... actually all games they show tonight will be coming out this year.
* Blue Dragon demo out on Xbox Live tonight.
* Viva pinata and Gears of War (with editor, new levels, etc) coming to Games for Windows.
* Demo and presentation of Call of Duty 4. Real-time playable demo shown, takes place near Chernobyl. Beta demo coming exclusive to Xbox360.
* Next Splintercell (called 'Conviction') coming exclusive to xbox 360.
* New GTA IV trailer shown. First 2 trailers were captured from a 360, not PS3.
* Capcom's Resident Evil 5 coming to Xbox360 too, not this year though.
* New demo of Assassins Creed by Ubisoft. Coming November 2007.
* Video of the 'Halo 3 universe' shown.
* Gray Xbox360 is real! It's actually more 'army green'. Will be a Halo 3 themed Special Edition console coming in September! DVD-bezel and HDD sides will be gold colored instead of silver.

Microsoft makes no moves to the Xbox 360 price, but instead announced a new Halo-themed console

user posted image
Microsoft's Xbox 360 Halo Special Edition boasts 360 Elite features,
without the big price tag. (Source: Microsoft)

On Thursday, Microsoft stunned the industry by announcing that it would extend the warranty on Xbox 360s afflicted with the Red Ring of Death (RROD) to three years following DailyTech's report on Xbox 360 failure rates. On Tuesday night, the spotlight is once again on Microsoft with it hosting the first big press conference at this year's slimmed-down E3.

Following Sony's big announcement of the PlayStation 3 price drop, many turned their eyes over to Microsoft to see if it would respond with a price reduction of its own. Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter even went as far as to tell clients that he is expecting Microsoft to drop the price of the Xbox 360 console across all its product line. Pachter believes that the 60GB PS3, at $499, represents a favorable comparison against the Xbox 360, and that Microsoft will drop the price to widen the gap.

Unfortunately, for those hoping that the analyst's prophecy would turn out to be true, Microsoft did nothing to the price of its latest consoles. This effectively puts the 60GB PlayStation 3 console, along with its Blu-ray Disc playing capabilities, $20 apart from the HDMI-capable Xbox 360 Elite. In the Canadian market, the Xbox 360 Elite and the 60GB PS3 will share the exact same $549 price tag, giving consumers more to think about than just their wallets.

Perhaps the only "all new" surprise of the press conference was when Peter Moore reached behind the counter to pull out a new Xbox 360 console SKU. Although some may be hoping for that surprise to be the announcement of a more reliable, 65nm chip-based machine, or one with HD DVD built-in, the actual new console is a Halo Special Edition Console.

The Halo Special Edition Console will be shipping this September, no doubt alongside Halo 3's September 25 release date. The console features an authentic Spartan green and gold finish and comes with matching Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, 20GB Hard Drive, Headset, Play & Charge Kit, HDMI output and exclusive Halo 3 Gamer Pics and Theme available via Xbox Live download. Microsoft has yet to announce pricing for the Halo Special Edition Console.

The special green Xbox 360 isn't the only Halo promo item on Microsoft's list. Last month, retailer GameStop revealed special Halo 3-themed Xbox 360 controllers featuring Todd McFarlane artwork and Spartan green wireless headset. For those who must have all things Halo 3, GameStop will is also selling an appropriately themed Halo 3 Zune music player.

Beh. When he knows that shit-green H3 controller is also for sale separately, soft side's gone. laugh.gif
On the other hand, desperately need a price cut! Maybe they'll announce it BEFORE Sony's E3 conference.

As for the H3 limited edition, machinima freaks take note: That is the best version you can get. There's currently a HDMI capture card that does 1080i capture (!) for 250USD- not much considering component 1080i capture is 4 times the price. tongue.gif
Or the Japaneese Elite if you love slow release dates.

Watch the preview...graphic isn't really that good and it's like a C&C 360 rip off.
I was thinking of something ambitious like Tom Clancy Endwar, heck even World in Conflict feel like a game built for console...it started as PC titles then now will be release simultaneously on 360.

Dissapointed, thought they gona do something to console strategy scene like how Halo 1st bring life to console FPS.

Halo Wars

World in Conflict

Got to remember it is from Ensemble, not Bungie. If anything it'll probably end up being much close to Age of Empires series. What's interesting to see is how they will implement the control scheme.

its their loss any way .. exclusive to a console that shipped 5mil instead of the 11mil Xbox 360. imagine the loss of 2x the potential sales. Sony must be paying the game producer good wink.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
