Strange, I thought T&L sold HK models? Goes to show there is always an element of risk when buying parallel import stuffs. Anyway, glad your issue was resolved by Apple. I'd be sure to use your case as a reference in case anything goes wrong with both my XS Max and XR from T&L! laugh.gif
No issues on my XR though, I just tried it. Are you already on iOS 12.2?

Yes , on the latest 12.2 . Really cant figure out what’s the problem as it suddenly become really slow to show the results, which usually instantaneous

Finally, got my replacement XS Max back.

MacCity handled the warranty. And initially, they gave me some issue saying that my phone (T&L) is a China Unicorn unit. They can’t process the warranty. It is only accepted for China Mobile.

After talking to Apple support again, and requesting Apple to make this warranty. They did as what Apple told them to.

And I’m unsure if this information is true. The technician mentioned that China Unicorn models have different bands compare to the rest of the world. So he is suspecting why I’m having the slow data issue. Which is not compatible with Malaysian bands.

Short story, Apple replaced me back with a local MY unit. E-Sim and Sim. I don’t have Maxis to try on the E-sim. So I can’t report back if my problem is still lingering on this new phone.
*
why did they make the point unicorn unit cannot? i thought worldwide service?

I guess the only option is for a hard reset to see if the problem persists.

:x :x :x , the most annoying solution, and yet it doesnt guarantee solve the problem if i restore it as i read from the apple discussion forum. The problem came back not long after.

i know this question has been asked million of times but,

between Xs and Xs Max, which one should i get?

planning to buy this for my wife.
also, 64gb vs 256gb?

thanks for your input guys.
*
i tried both 256 and 64 for 3 months each, got to say the latter is more than enough in my case.
in terms of xs or max, i've tried xs -- max -- xs. i'm back to xs now. max is simply too big.

good for you.

Though very strange that Apple replaced a non local unit. Usually it's country specific.

Apple nice that way.

for 2018 model, it's the same phone; however they'll lock certain network and functions based on the said country. eg, they'll lock FaceTime calling in china and uae.
in terms of past model, it's a bit complicated, eg. all phone purchased from apple china will support all 3 networks (china mobile, china unicom, china telecom). however, if it's purchase from any of the above telco, it'll have limited compatibility.

So did they refused outright when you send in the phone initially? I mean before you spoke to Apple.

HK and China sets are the same dual physical sim bro. So they could have just passed you a China set without you knowing.

No such issue but seems like battery life is poorer on the 12.2. Or is it me only that is experiencing the drain?
*
Nope they didn't reject outright. But called me 2 days later to reject. Before I send in, I have already confirmed with Apple that MacCity can handle the warranty

HK or China, I'm unsure. But that's what the technician told me. I may truly got a lemon from T&L at the start.

Apple replaced me a Malaysian unit, as MacCity again told me that MCMC did not approve the dual sim phone in Malaysia. And I won't be getting the HK unit back

Did you reach out to T&L for warranty claims? T&L offers 1 Year Seller Warranty.
They have a local partner in Malaysia Office to handle the replacement.

Claiming your warranty through T&L, by right they will replace another A2104 Dual SIM iPhone XS Max?

Although both China and Hong Kong iPhone XS Max is A2104, the extended model codes are different. You can find the information on your original box.

For instance:

China set ~ iPhone XS Max 64GB Gold (MT732CH/A)
Hong Kong set ~ iPhone XS Max 64GB Gold (MT732ZA/A)

It's not ethical that T&L gave you a China Unicorn set as they are advertising Hong Kong sets all along on Qoo10.

Although CH and HK A2104 have the same cellular bands, like asamalikum said they'll lock certain network and functions based on the corresponding country

Well that proves again IPhone don't have international warranty. Warranty is case by case basis and as per sole discretion of Apple and AASPs. But even if they reject, you could still send the phone back to T&L for RMA. nod.gif

I have asked them before, T&L will help to send your unit back to AASP HK for RMA (they don't repair themselves). So no issues here. But the issue of ethics is really there. We bought expecting it to be HK units. Luckily mine is ZA Hong Kong unit.

Yup, both my XR and XS Max are ZA HK units as well. Intend to dispose of them before the next iPhone launch so that I don't have any headaches after the warranty period expires! laugh.gif

True bro. A feature emphasized by the late Mr Jobs. Now if only we had an official store here ..
because the customer satisfaction from our local resellers hovers about the balance from above.
