Asia Pacific University has received Full Accreditation for its BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Studies from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), UK. We are one of a few universities in Asia* to receive such worldwide recognition and our graduates who perform to the required standard can be eligible for block exemption from CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2, CB1 and CB2**.

*Other universities that also received Full Accreditation with Block Exemption include Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and the University of Hong Kong (China).
**These subjects are equivalent to CT1, CT2, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT6, CT7 and CT8 in the old IFOA curriculum.

At APU, if a student achieves an average of 65% from the selected modules, then he/she will receive exemption from all the 6 papers (CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2, CB1 and CB2), since the program is fully accredited.

For a program that is not fully accredited, a student may have to obtain 65% from each of the selected modules in order to receive exemption from all the 6 papers.

FYI, the first university in Malaysia to receive full IFOA accreditation for its actuarial programme is Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.

By the way, Sunway University is not a programme.

Damn, these accredidations are even better than most UK unis themselves.

LSE only exempts the 8 CT papers. The rest have to take externally.

I regret my life choices now sad.gif

UK universities have well-established actuarial programmes. You can't say ours are better. I would say our programme is on par with or up to the standard of actuarial programmes offered by UK universities. What we offer here is affordable education. Years ago only those who could afford to study in UK were able to enjoy maximum exemptions. But now everyone can get the same thing from local Malaysian universities.

Nonetheless, despite the huge amount of tuition fees and living expenses, I would not say stuying in UK is a bad choice. You actually experience and learn many things that those study locally don't.
