Oh wow, how did you found out?
And why 20k required? Missed some important servicing from the tampering?

Paid service

Didn't miss any service.
Wear and tear, and cost associated to maintaining a sports car.

Interesting, here i was thinking the 86 is exactly the same cost to service and maintain like an XV or Forester

Hahaha.

You bought recon right? For recon car, can we ask mechanic to check the actual mileage before buying it? It is crazy that it has been tampered for almost 100K.
*
Yes recon

No mechanic cannot check.

Maybe if they have original Toyota service tool (not cheap scan tools/obd tools), but if the tampering was done by hard writing ROM/replaced meter and/or ECU, will end up impossible to check anyways.

Sorry, bro. How did you find out it was a tempered mileage car after your purchase ?

Search online for paid services or search my previous posts on what I have used.

Wear and tear.

Engine only a recall, pending Toyota.
FA20D and F Are 2 very different thing, so no comment.

Subaru FA20 engine reliability, problems and repair
At the beginning of 2012 the joint Subaru and Toyota model was put into production. You know it as Subaru BRZ, Toyota 86 or Scion FR-S. New sports naturally aspirated flat-4 FA20 engine was developed specially for this car. It was built on the basis of FB20 cylinder block, modified into square bore/stroke ratio. Diameter of its cylinders and piston stroke is 86 mm. Unlike usual FB20, this motor uses new pistons, new crankshaft, and the compression ratio was increased to 12.5.
FA20 engines use new heads with direct injection system of Toyota D4S, and also variable valve timing system AVCS is used on intake and exhaust camshafts. Also 4-2-1 headers are installed on this motor.
Such naturally aspirated engine was called FA20D or Toyota 4U-GSE and it showed 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm, and torque 205 Nm at 6,400-6,600 rpm.
Except FA20D, there is also turbocharged version which is called FA20F/FA20E, better known as FA20DIT. This motor replaced EJ207 and EJ205.
FA20DIT engine uses non-forged pistons with the decreased compression ratio 10.6, its heads flow better, combustion chambers were improved in these heads and new camshafts are applied.
On the intake part there is the plastic intake manifold with TGV valves, and new turbo manifold is also used.
FA20 DIT engine uses twin scroll Garrett MGT2259S turbocharger. The maximum boost pressure is 15.9 psi (1.1 bar), and power is 272 HP at 5,600 rpm, torque 350 Nm at 2,000-5,200 rpm. Also, the over boost mode is available, at this mode boost pressure can increase to 22 psi (1.5 bar) for several seconds.
FA20 firing order is 1-3-2-4.

Subaru FA20 engine problems and malfunctions

1. FA20 rough idle. The problem is caused by ECU software. You need the new modified software for your ECU.
2. FA20 stalls. The problem with cam gear, which leads to the loss of pressure of engine oil.

For this engine it is necessary to use the best quality gasoline, and also to use original high-quality engine oil and change it twice more often than it is recommended. It will allow to keep reliability and will increase an engine resource.

Any wear n tear/repair on engine yet ? Toyota recall is ECUs re flash or replace ?

You know how to Google/wiki you don't know how to read?

FA20D
NA
Higher RPM
higher compression
Different heads
Different cam shafts
Different intake and exhaust manifold (duh pure DIT + turbo vs dual system and NA)
Forged Pistons, not sure on the con rods
Requires premium petrol (although me poor so fuck it use 95 with expense of lower power, about 2 to 3 less Dyno before/after with +/- 1 hp as margin of error)

Again, 2 are very different engines with only common base that is FA20.
2 very different purposes as well one being a sports car and anything family sedan, even though yes the family sedan has more power and a turbo.

my engine is leaking oil everywhere.

Toyota Malaysia only recall is the valve springs.

I think yours is a bit unlucky. However you should not count on upgrades but just pure repair and maintenance.

That alone still around 15k la
Add fuel? 9k? sad.gif

Tires already 2 sets about 2.4k total
Almost 30k km mileage clocked by myself

2 sets of tires in just 30k km?? Must be some extreme category with only 200 TW or lower isn't it? I change tires usually at 40-50+k km. But 2.4k for 2 sets is damn cheap. 1 set of mine is already around that.
*
Yes EHP
240 TW China made Zestino both sets
First lasted over 20k km
I'm now on second set
