Just googled on Mazda 3mps. 263hp and 380Nm under the bonnet should be produced in limited quantities for enthusiasts and not mass market production at low/affordable prices. Otherwise we'll see higher rate of accidents on the roads with all racing on the streets. Lol

Yes, perfect for those who have a passion for speed and the thrill of bursting acceleration power. Looks like it will remain a dream at the moment or the foreseeable future.

I just noticed this new Mazda 3 and read up a little. From the photos on the internet, it does look very upmarket and elegant especially the exterior large front grille. The interior dashboard is also updated with straight clean lines which look good.

Without looking at the car yet, it certainly looks more upmarket than the similar competitors in the same price range. It even looks more expensive than the Merc A and C series and the BMW too. I would have to say the design of the car with the new model is excellent and has encroached to the higher territory of the premium brands. Not too sure on the pricing but it appears that even if it is priced slightly higher than the current Mazda 3 model, say RM130k - 140k, it is still a good or attractive buy as it looks likea car that costs above RM200k.

Agreed. It looks more expensive than the price suggests. Even the previous gen looks good too. Elegant and poised.

Having said that, I compared the prices of 2019 gen with the previous gen in Canadian Mazda website. The price is similar for similar specs (SkyActiv-G 2.0). I guess the coming SkyActiv-X is the upper range.

New Mazda 3 is coming into Msia this July with 1.5cc NA 130k++ 2.0cc NA 150k
But both varients are using current skyactive G engine as skyactive X requires higher Ron than Ron97

With these prices the Mazda 3 will be a tough sell. I think Bermaz doesn't intend to bring in the Skyactiv-X or it will have to be priced out of the market. But they can stop bullshitting that the Skyactiv-X engine requires higher RON.

Interesting that there is a 1.5 Mazda 3 for the Malaysian market. Are you sure it is not a 1.5 Turbo costing 150k and the 2.0 costing RM130k+?

Must be specially for Malaysian market. A B-segment engine in a C-segment car at C-segment price. If you want a C-segment engine it goes to D-segment price.

Bermaz will be killing the Mazda 3 if it goes with these prices. The 1.5L should not be brought in and the 2.0L should be priced at RM130K. People are not going to pay RM150K for a 2.0L NA C-segment even if it is CBU. Yes, there will be some sales but not enough to justify bringing it in. After 1 year, get rid of existing stocks at discount and discontinue Mazda 3 sales.

The new Camry in Malaysia is using even older engines when compared to Mazda SkyActiv G engines. New Mazda Skyactiv G engine is only 1 generation old, where as the engine use inside the Camry has been around for 2 generations. Assume a generation cycle is 5 years, a 10 years old engine for Camry. Blame Malaysia Euro 2M RON95.

I guess Bermaz is testing the local market with a 1.5 litre engine, since it will be a CBU, I don't think they will bring in a lot in the first place. A similar marketing strategy as the previous generation CBU units with sunroof. With a 1.5 litre engine no doubt it will be more fuel saving then the 2.0 litre engine, it is catered for those who want comfort oriented and fuel efficient owners who couldn't get their hands on the latest Skyactiv X.

You mean RON 97 is not enough? This means it can't be released in U.S. either as premium grade is 94. In Europe and Australia the premium grade is 98 which is hardly any different from 97. So waht grade does it need?

US uses AKI not RON. Their premium grade AKI 94 is equivalent to RON99 -RON100 here.

No, I believe it is Euro 2M RON95 fuel in Malaysia, most new engines are Euro 6 compliant, so pumping Euro 2M fuel into these engines are just inviting trouble. Same concept as pumping Euro 2M diesel into Euro 5 diesel engine, kaput faster and lots of black smoke/carbon deposits. Wait until Malaysia starts selling Euro 4M RON95 fuel.
