Simple question. Regardless compact or DSLR.
Do you like to take pictures? If yes, then its just a matter of time for you to buy DSLR.
My advise is to get single lens at the cheapest street price you could get and buy the 2nd lens based on your preference (type of photo you like to shoot). Carl Zeiss lens suit your need (hehe..... start poisoning).
Yes, I love snapping pictures. My job requires me to travel a lot, 90% of my time I'm on the road, the more reason for me to snap snap snap.
From yesterday's reading, Carl Zeiss by Sony is damn pricey
I'm sure when I get the hang of using DSLR, when you mention Carl Ziess, I'll be drolling

I bought my A100 with single lens kit. Then I bought a Minolta zoom. To be honest, I rarely use the zoom lens... most of the time with the kit lens shooting landscapes. Even for wedding work I only use the kit lens most of the time!
Scenery+Indoor+Portrait = A200+kit lens
Later you might wanna look for Sony/Minolta 50mm f1.4 or Minolta 50mm f1.7 for portrait. Or maybe a Sony/Minolta/Tamron 11-18mm for landscape wide angle... or Sigma 10-20mm
Started to understand the numbers like 50mm, f1.4, etc etc
Can you explain to me why we need a large aperture for a portrait? Still a newbie trying to learn.

Wow, 10/11mm? That a very wide angel lens

(remember, I used P&S all my life)
Ok, so now, what's a fair price to get the A200 with kit lens? I suppose they don't come with international warranty right? I heard something about gray units will come with international warranty.
