anyone experiencing crap Unifi Basic package? Already used up 10gb just 3-4 hours browsing without download... damn
*
Under 30M speed, should be consistent and very little downtimes.

Now TM is secretly offering RM89 counter offer to those paying over RM160 for 10M high rise VDSL2 who has no option to go 100M fibre.

don't take maxis due trouble if line down then you call then keep say 48hours then never come and never call back you call again will be keep say wait 48hours

almost bad you may check facebook

you can downgrade unifi 300mbps or 100mbps up to you
*
Those who take ASTRO IPTV with Maxis on HSBB worst, when down you need to call 3 sides to report your line:

TM for line fault reporting, Maxis for internet downtime and ASTRO for IPTV downtime.

They make you go merry go round.

Guys don't forget recontracting Unifi now involves a commitment of remaining months out of the 24 mths you sign.

u sure? just went to TMPoint for termination but got offered for RM89 @ 30Mbps with contract refresh. the operator said the contract starts from the date of activation of the new package, not compounding. anyhow already proceeded, nothing much we can do since we got no choice on contract renewal also, let's see how when the package change is complete.
btw, what does penalty remaining month mean in the form that written by the operator?

Please take this agreement seriously, consumers are at the lost at their expense. It means that within the contract period, if you decide to terminate your Unifi line you'll be charged a penalty of whatever remaining months your have.
They only went and changed this T&C quietly and enticed subscribers to recontract without properly explaining to them. Very unscrupulous and dishonest for a large corporation to do things like this.

People should boycott TM for this.

Say in 1 month time of your re-contract and you decide to switch to another ISP, terminate your Unifi line.
The penalty will be: Remaining 24 months X RM89 = RM2136 plus 6% = RM2264

This is very hefty and unfair charge because it makes you very hard to switch ISP should TM under performs. They want to hold you by the leg.

As for other ISPs, there's usually only a 1-off early termination penalty.Maxis for example only charges you RM500 should you decide to terminate your contract as early as 1 day after you sign-up.
The RM500 early termination is use to pay up for the equipment they supplied you and the standard installation they subsidized at your place which is very fair approach.

You decide.

what can we do? in order to get the offer price, we are bound to contact and cannot amend it. i have requested not to bound with contact when switching over but got denied as it is part of requirement
RM80/month for what speed?
*
What's stopping you from threatening to join other ISP such as Maxis and termination as your contract has ended?

RM89 gets you symmetrical 30M if you want a low end plan.
RM149 gets you a new 300Mbps plan with no remaining months contract.

https://cw.maxis.com.my/en/consumer/maxison...-all-plans.html

My advise to you is subscribe Maxis first then have them install the new plan/Maxis router on port 2 of your BTU. Then only proceed to terminate TM. That way you can still maintain your port.

300Mbps is sweet spot for most people. It's priced very affordable too at RM149 for large families.

what makes u think i can simply switch over other ISP such as Maxis without paying penalty for contract that yet to end?
and what makes u think i could even get more than 30Mbps from other ISP, as well as the limited port available reserve for other ISP by TM, otherwise would have already done so
*
Your contract hasn't end yet? Your last reply implied so because you went and try to terminate your Unifi plan, correct?
But for those desperate to do so, with their old TM contract they're allowed to pay a 1-time off RM500 penalty to expedite it.

For those of you with existing TM Unifi port with an expired contract, to reserve your port you can straight apply for your Maxis service and have the Maxpert come and install a new Maxis router on port 2 on top of your Unifi service before you proceed to TM to terminate your old Unifi account. That way you don't have to give back your port and keep it.

like what others did, went to terminate then they will counter offer to maximum speed available by the premise infra at lower price.

Maxis have constraint like p2p restriction, support which have to rely on TM as they ride on TM's infra also. since Maxis and TM are same price at same speed, why not remain back unifi without have to wait for technician to do the installation
*
Have you tried Maxis Fibre before with FTTH (not VDSL)? You'll be surprised how it performs better than TM.
International connectivity is much better. There is no P2P restrictions.
Last mile is only TM, international connectivity is entirely different.

They are not priced at same price and speed. Maxis has the upperhand.

RM89
Maxis gets symmetrical 30M with no remaining months contract
TM gets only 1/3 upload speed which is 10M and you have very unfair remaining months contract

RM149
Maxis offers 300M plan with no remaining months contract which is a one stone kill 2 birds strategy
TM forces you to subscribe their HyppTV at RM199 with unfair remaining months contract to subscribe the 300M plan
Should you decide to take the cheaper RM159 with TV Bundle, you're only getting 100M with it.
Both expensive TM plans above RM159 do not have UNLIMITED call plans. They are restricted to only 600mins.

We've not arrived at supplied hardware too.

Maxis supplies a neat dual band TP-Link C5V Router while TM only gives crappy and ugly D-Link DIR-842 router with 4 ugly sticks sticking out.

In the lower end segment sub RM90 market, Maxis gives 3X the upload speed with improved latency
In the 300M plan, Maxis is there to snatch their old Unifi customers coming from the RM150 segment where they refused to Turbo upgrade their speeds with undisclosed selective policy.

Worst their REMAINING MONTHS early termination policy is a real turn OFF for existing re-contracts and new subscribers.
Should you decide to terminate your line within 6 months you need to pay almost 4X the termination costs which Maxis subscribers only pay a mere RM500. With TM, the penalty is something closer to RM2k even more if you subscribe to their higher tier RM129, RM159 or RM199

My dear TM salesperson, have you studied carefully why Unifi is losing their edge and are losing marketshare?

With even more players joining the HSBB network, it'll even get more intense.

DiGi Home Fibre:
https://web.digi.com.my/digihome/en/index.html
thumbup.gif VDSL2 covered areas also allowed to subscribe to 50M plan at best effort speed which is better than 30M plans

Celcom Home Fibre:
https://www.celcom.com.my/support/faq/perso...lcom-home-fibre
shocking.gif LOL RM80 for symmetrical 40M

Still better than the ugly piece of DLink DIR-842 crap that TM throws out. Neat internal antenna. Of course no match for purchased routers but at least I get to keep my landline phone working.

Also say bye bye to that dumb @Unifi prefixes for your SSID.

Fat hopes for new subscribers and existing ones planning to downgrade or re-contract.

The Turbo program offered by TM was only temporarily offered because they never had the intention to continue it or push for those speeds at those price.
TM only offered them to their line of crony circles of family members, staffs, friends and reseller agents.

If recently you've grown frustrated and requested them for it they'd told you it has ended and no longer continued.

Why TM ended this before it went mainstream nationwide? How come they didn't eventually match the prices and offered everyone the same plans at such price?

This company was never serious, and kept to their words. Who they offered mostly what were the criterias and who was held back from getting them they all kept it secretly from ublic knowledge.

Maxis is cheaper. Can't believe I'm saying that. Maxis Mobile Postpaid subscriber here.

But:
1. Pray you don't have a problem with non-Maxis infra. Once, I think it took 3 weeks for everything to be sorted out for my auntie's house.
2. Why can't they route the VOIP through the BTU like TM? Change the router and say bye bye to your landline. My auntie is stuck with her C5V because of this. I have to agree with you on one more thing, the C5V is slightly better crap than the DIR-842. However crap routers are generally fine for the typical subscriber.

TM can be a real pain sometimes but problems are solved really quickly, YMMV. I've been with them since VIP5 and now am paying RM159 for 800/200Mbps, Ultimate HyppTV and free calls.
*
Seriously, your aunty needs anything more than AC1200 dual band router such as AC1900 or better? She subscribing anything more than 30M plan?
The fixed line is less important for her love ones to contact especially her children, family members and relatives?

You think TM technicians are capable and diligent lots who puts work above everything. You'll sorely be disappointed.

Funny. Not sure who's the sales person here? rolleyes.gif

As far as I understand, all of us are users here. Yes, I do have UniFi registered under my name installed in my sister's house in Seremban while I use Infinite 150 in PJ. Just to clear someone's potential suspicion that all this while I fake my high speed Infinite 150. laugh.gif

If Maxis can offer me below RM 129 for 500Mbps, then I will switch to Maxis. Their sales people have called me few times and upon hearing my current package - RM 129 for 500Mbps, free 600 minutes calls, Ruby and Aneka package, they hung up. laugh.gif
*
Maxis won't offer a TM agent a better deal lah, sis. They're already enjoying a heck of a deal with staff benefit plans with 800M or 500M plans for the same price as consumer 100M plans.

There is no doubt there there'll always be suspicion when writing in public forums. You'll never know who is talking at the other end. You can never take for granted or assume someone when she says who she are. Any veteran or experience participant in BBS or discussion groups over 20 years knows this dirty fact. Only fools the young would take 100% what they read on the board.

People can always read and judge for themselves.

Hi

I am currently on RM99 for 50 Mbps, internet only since Dec 2018. I downgraded to this as they could not Turbo Boost me up to 500 Mbps since I am in an old appartment with copper cables and running VDSL. Is this pretty much still the case with current technology?

For the past couple of weeks, I have had intermittent internet service disconnection - there isn't an internet connection but my LAN is fine. I have my own ASUS router. If I restart both the router and the modem, the connection comes back.

The TM guys came today and said it is likely an issue with the modem. They said to replace it, they would need for me to renew my contract. I said I thought it was renewed when I changed packages end Dec since my contract had already expired then. However, they said in their system records, I did not renew my contract then. As such, to get a modem replacement I would have to renew now and lock myself in for another 2 years counting from today. My account details on the Unifi site say I have been on this package since Nov 2017 but that was the date of the Thank You speed upgrade from 30 Mbps to 50 Mbps so I am pretty sure I am not under contract if they say it wasn't renewed when I did the downgrade end 2018.

So is this RM 99 for 50 Mbps, internet only package the best I can do bearing in mind that I cannot be upgraded to higher speeds? I do not really care about Hypp TV but wouldn't mind the free calls.

I recall reading on previous pages that there are people paying the same ie. RM 99 for 500 Mbps plus some TV package (not that i care for that really) and free calls.

Thanks
*
If you're living in high rise and using VDSL2, can consider buying your own modem instead of renewing an unfair 24 remaining months contract which is scam deal.
Modem got cost so much that you need to pay thousands as early penalty?

There is a D-Link modem that can replace the current TP-Link VR1200v model that comes with voip phone ports.

Here it is:
D-Link DSL-G2452DG Dual Band Wireless AC1200 VDSL2/ADSL+ Modem Router with FXS VOIP ports

D-Link claims its compatible for both UniFi and Maxis Home Fibre

May I know if the D-Link can support VOIP?
*
Yes, it does as claimed by the sellers on Lazada and Shopee.
The firmware is customized for both Malaysian local isps such as Unifi and Maxis Home Fibre with VLAN pre-entries.

Behind the router has 2 FXS VOIP ports.

Average price should be around RM260.

Highly suggest you look through first post and buy your own router. It is better than the one provided by TM. Or else, get them to replace your router and restart contract.
*
TM Unifi contract is not worth renewing. They want you to pay a penalty of remaining months to lock you down for the next 24 mths which is very unfair. For less than RM300 you can get a very good replacement router already.

The 30Mb/s @ RM89 package got something related note mentioned below.

The tm people came to my house and hand to hand passed one letter to me.

Letter title : " EXTRA PORT DEALS FROM TM! "

WE NOW HAVE EXTRA UNIFI PORTS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD , GET YOUR HANDS ON THESE LIMITED OFFERING !

100m---rm159/month---hypptv set-top box(stb)
---free voice plan & free 600 min

100m---rm129/month---free voice plan & free 600 min

However , 30Mb/s @ RM89 package is nor offer in the letter....for selected area only.

It is not official announce...

I don't want to pay more on expensive 100m package , so i choose 30Mb/s @ RM89 package.

Nothing attractive anyway. If you're under TM HSBB coverage, you might as well look at Celcom or Maxis Homne Fibre plans as well.
Cheaper and less troublesome early termination rules.
You get faster symmetrical upload speeds and early termination will only cost you RM500 instead of remaining months.

Celcom Home Fibre promo for 100M now is only RM120. They have very good refined TnC too which allows downgrading at very little cost.Early termination also only RM500.

Celcom offer 30M package rm80/month only.The time I sign up for 30Mb/s @ RM89 package ,
celcom didn't offer cheap 30M package.

The most important thing is ur house support fiber broadband coverage....so that
u can choice other ISP like celcom , maxis and time.

It only costs RM50 to downgrade your plan for Celcom Fibre. If TM, you'll be cancelling your contract which means early termination charges apply. No need renewal contract will still continue from the date of plan change until it ends.

Cheaper summore.

Read Celcom's terms.

Nowadays where got people still use fixed line? All use mobile phone already. Even TM Basic RM89/RM99 plans where got call bundle all pay per use. No point in keeping the fixed line unless you're in business. You save 1 extra electrical socket for your DECT phone.

If you're using DiGi or uMobile with VoWiFi it gets even better if you live in high rise. It becomes a coverage extender for your mobile connection. You get full bar on WiFi means crystal clear calls for your mobile phone too.

They cant do it on the spot for those who walk in and as this package, need to escalate for approval and they rubbishly told me need to pay rm200 for this downgrade plan(i'm no longer in contract for my 50mbps).

It only costs RM50 to downgrade with Celcom Home Fibre and your contract will continue from where you signed up last time not reset back to 24mths.

Hi Sifu, am planning to terminate the current unifi account (2 yrs contract were ended long-long time ago) and apply a new one due to cheaper package . Anyone know how long is the procedure?

Someone was telling me that there will be risk that there is insufficient port at the housing area & hence i cant apply again.
*
Apply for a new ISP first Celcom/Maxis/DiGi, have their installer come install a new router with port 2 of your BTU then only last apply for TM Unifi termination.
