To use any router as switch/access point, disable DHCP and change IP to something different from main router but in same subnet. Example, main router 192.168.1.1 then this router set to 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.254. Then connect Ethernet cable from main router LAN port 1 to this router LAN port 1. You can then use ports 2-4 to connect to other devices and the Wi-Fi will work too.

Yea, Firefox does seeem a little faster but I only use it occasionally nowadays.

Tested on a PC with slower CPU, now Firefox achieves higher speedtest results than Chrome. Both are 64-bits on Windows 10 x64 too.

First.....let begin by updating your WIN10 microcode......

https://support.microsoft.com/en-my/help/40...crocode-updates

BOTTOM table, not UPPER table.

My microcode is already updated to latest and Windows is fully patched with Retpoline enabled too. I don't have any issues, I don't use Chrome, just testing to compare Chrome and Firefox on slower CPUs.

The faster PC is Core i5 7th gen desktop and the slower PC is Core i5 2nd gen laptop if anyone want to compare. Both are on latest microcode.

Can you try run a test with the Speedtest.net app using Telekom Malaysia server? and if you're using Windows 10, is it fully patched with the latest Intel microcode and Retpoline enabled (refer to post #1901 by JohnLai)? also do you have any third-party security software installed?

from speedtest.net app i can get around 830mb

But with latest microcode but not the retpoline... as it failed to install as it stated "this update is not applicable to your computer" - after microcode updates now firefox also given me results around 660mb...

all tested on telekom server
What CPU does your PC have? Since the app can achieve >800Mbps, it is probably that the web browsers are unable to achieve such speed with the current CPU. If you can achieve 800Mbps previously then have to figure out what changed between then and now, such as browser/OS/microcode/driver/security software updates. You can also try run speedtest in browser using a smaller browser window and see if there is difference. A smaller window may put less load on the browser to render the speedtest animation.

Enabling Retpoline can speed up performance but it can only be enabled on Windows 10 ver 1809 with latest patches. Windows 10 ver 1903 should be out next month with Retpoline enabled by default. With latest microcode and Retpoline enabled, I can get 800Mbps with Firefox on 2nd gen Core-i5 mobile CPU but Chrome is slower as seen in post #1897. With latest microcode without Retpoline, Firefox can't reach 800Mbps. If the CPU is newer than 5th gen, all browsers should be able to do 800Mbps and Retpoline is not needed/compatible with these CPUs as seen in post #1894.

At one point it got worse that local sites and YouTube were also real slow. Even all lowyat.net images failed to load. It got better now and is now usable.

Speedtests (TM and FAST) reaching over 700Mbps now.
