hey it happen again, this is what I meant with the ARcher A6 router, the internet light will turn orange and I get disconnected. to wait for it to re-connect would take about 1 min++. Based on the pic, do u think its the router or unifi problem?
*
This is either TM issue or your BTU issue.
As you can see, your BTU AUTH light isn't active hmm.gif

From The Official Maxis FTTH Thread:

Haiya, maxis already use private ip since the old days.
Then TM is better and late in implementing to unifi customers
*
Holy fark shocking.gif , I almost jumped ship to maxis..........thanks for the information......

Good for you  rclxms.gif
Please update here when you finally got public IP
Yep, similar to what written in the Official Maxis FTTH Thread  thumbsup.gif

So, comparing unifi vs maxis:
Unifi: All package got public ip except basic. Waiting Fubar20 to update whether can get by request.
Maxis: All package got private ip. Can get public ip on request.
*
In that case, uncle here can safely makes the jump to maxis 300Mbps.......unless if TM provides better offer (without that RM30 Hypptv crap)

yes can. Do you know how much is the upload speed for Maxis 300mbps?
*
No idea, probably 50Mbps or 100Mbps upload.

Seeing that Maxis 500Mbps package comes with 100Mbps upload and 800Mbps comes with 200Mbps upload similar to Unifi offers, I can only assume the upload speed will be 100Mbps for Maxis 300Mbps too. hmm.gif

Maxis website = 300Mbps downstream and 50Mbps upstream.

i got the feedback from TM chat
Do apologize sir for 30mbps Basic TM not open the IP for CCTV. We advice you to upgrade the package to unlimited speed package.

what can i do?
*
Use IPv6 if possible? Modern CCTV mostly has IPv6 support. Check if your CCTV support it.

QUOTE(lukemanz @ Apr 30 2019, 10:25 PM)
I think better for you to wait for TM offer before decide to switch.
Looking at Tm 100M package, they might open the same without stb for 300, 500 and 800.
Question is what would be the price?
*
yup, I am giving TM until October before I make the switch......

Thanks for sharing.

So C1200 is the best among them? Is Archer C6 a good choice for 300Mbps?

QUOTE(taqu @ May 1 2019, 07:18 PM)
I never use DIR-842 but I've used DIR-850 & C1200. Hard to say but I remember C1200 can still get 80 mbps after 3 walls. However many people complaints about C1200 eg Wifi unstable etc. Mine was ok beside the 5-minutes boot time.

I believe TP-Link C6 should be better. Or even TP-Link A6 as it's cheaper.
*
For one, I don't recommend TP-Link A6 as for now until they fixed the IPv6 firewall and the Internet Access LED. dry.gif

No idea about C6 though.

Strange. Anyway I read your post#1 faq and you said that Tplink c1200 router has many firmware/hardware issues. I know about the chromecast issue and theres already a firmware fix for that early this year. What sort of other problems exactly and have those been resolved?
And are there any backdoor, security risks, alternate logins that I should be aware of? I remembered one old Unifi router had the issue of having an alternate "Management" login and a security bug which was fixed by new firmware.
*
TR-069 is active and can't be disabled without going into hidden page.....(Malaysia firmware only)
Random reboot every 1 or 2 weeks....3 weeks if you are lucky.
IPv6 connectivity takes forever to be established.
Router takes around 5 minutes to boot up completely.

Malaysia firmware is missing 5ghz beamforming, but got UNII1 and UNII-3 channels available.
EU firmware has 5ghz beamforming, but only support UNII-1 channels.

The good thing is.....C1200 has firewall working for both IPv4 and IPv6 unlike some of its cheaper model. dry.gif

IPV6 is firewall works very differently since there's not really a NAT anymore.

Have you tried the same IPV6 settings of your C1200 on your C6/A6?
*
Same settings. C1200 and A6 GUI ain't that different.

C1200 IPv6 firewall works as expected.
A6 IPv6 firewall doesn't seem to work at all....... sad.gif

Wait a minute....didn't I post about it at lowyat TP-Link thread? How come the legendary blacktubi miss it? laugh.gif

Oh well, after emailing tplink support and doesn't get much respond, I am going to create a thread at tplink community forum........

I saw it but I didn't thought of this at the time. sweat.gif

I doubt you will get any fix in the short term considering this is a non-critical issue to them.
*
Phew, I just posted a whole long 'feedback' at tplink community forum. rclxub.gif Hopefully I didn't type anything wrong there......
I really hope TP-Link fix the IPv6 SPI Firewall as I think it is a very critical issue....considering port 22 and 53 of the router are left open on IPv6........

Not mentioned in this writeup, so better to disable IPv6?
https://www.blacktubi.com/review/tp-link-archer-a6-review/
*
IPv6 is disabled by default for all TP-Link router.
One has to log into the router configuration interface and manually enable IPv6.
Thus, no worry? Not many people bother to turn on IPv6 anyway.....I think? hmm.gif

Ok, so far the c1200 router seems to be working perfectly fine. Had some guests over and they didn't have any issues. The technician who installed did tell me that he preferred to leave ipv6 disabled since its not 'stable' so I left it disabled for now.

Questions -
Is it possible to flash the EU firmware and configure the VLANs manually for Unifi?
How do you access the hidden page? I think I disabled all the remote management login settings including TR069 in a menu that was not hidden.
*
Eh? I suddenly recalled the later version of Malaysia firmware exposes TR-069 settings. tongue.gif
So, no issue with remote management stuff as long as you disable it.

TM IPv6 routing isn't as good as IPv4 for now.

Yes, possible to flash EU firmware and setup VLAN manually. Go to my other thread and read the first thread......

The Suburban Broadband (SUBB) initiativeinvolves upgrading of the core network that connects 429exchangesto the cabinet and extended to the residences or premises. It is targeted to be fully completed by end of 2019.
In 2018,there were 762,330 premises passed for SUBB.

Did TM sell off our Unifi details to maxis? dry.gif

I was doing some billing work stuff until I received a call from 03-5885 9335.

The guy was asking if I am Mr xxx xxx xxx (my name).
When I said yes. He asked if I live at Lot xxxxxx (my EXACT home address!)
He even got my unifi subscription package correctly. ohmy.gif

The moment he started to mention he is from Maxis, I stopped him and said I am still in contract with TM, can't change.
Then he said, "No, I am not promoting maxis fibre, I am calling to ask if you encounter slow speed, high latency and issue with TM Unifi. Company wants to verify if TM fibre is stable for your area as maxis fibre is making use of TM fibre"

I replied there is no issue with TM fibre so far other than the slowdown when the backbone fibre broke last time.

Then the guy said he will put a remark on their database that my taman area fibre connectivity is stable and that is all.

Something is fishy here..... hmm.gif

The rebooted router is this ac1200
https://www.tp-link.com/my/home-networking/...r/archer-c1200/

Previously I was using this another ac1200 (before terminated), but this was never rebooted randomly.
https://www.digitalcitizen.life/review-tp-link-archer-c1200
*
Go update C1200 firmware first.
The default factory shipped firmware tends to auto reboot more often compared to latest firmware.

With latest firmware, probably 2 or 3 times random reboot in a month if there is heavy usage.

Hi all,

So, i've been paying RM232.15 every month for UNIFI 800Mbps.

My modem/router doesnt even support until that speed.

Usually, for wifi, i never get the speed above 100Mbps.

Is it possible for me to downgrade to the lowest speed package?

Whats the current price if i downgrade to 300mbps?

Seems like ive been paying more for the speed of less than 100Mbps.

Any advice?
*
RM199 per month for Unifi 300Mbps.

You might wanna consider Maxis 300Mbps if you don't watch unifiTV or no longer in contract with TM.
